2.4l n/t hardtop???

i was arguing with 'bishilvr1' about this topic like it says, he says they didnt use 2.0L 16v DOHC 420a engines in 97 hardtop Eclipses, but they did in Talon's I think that he is full of it, or there were very few released, but he said their were plenty. I didn't take the bait anyways if anyone can clarify that their was/wasn't a 2.4L n/t engine put into hardtop eclipses i will be grateful. Thanks

Okay, ALL hardtop 95-99 eclipses came with either a 2.0 4g63T (turbo) or a 2.0 420a (nonturbo). The convertible (which weighs more) was equipped with either the 2.0 4g63T (turbo) or 2.4 4g64 (non turbo).

That is all. No other motors. Pre 95 the used the 4g63 in everything except the 1.8 which was a 4g37 I believe, but I don't know schitt about the 1g's.

k, thanks for clearing it up, i told him that the hardtop's had 2.0L dohc 420a motors, he said in 97 the eclipses came with 2.4L sohv, spyder motors.. i asked him to show me a 2.4l hardtop he refused... but thanks again guys btw i have a 420a in my car

Within a generation, the differences between Talons, Eclipses, and (when possible) Lasers was the rubber bits on the ends and other even less-significant parts.
