I am going to be running a fully built 2.4L and the block and the head are FULLY resurfaced to a RA finish. My question is what to do with the cometic mls gasket on a 2.4L
do I just slap it on there put in my arp's and three step torque them to around 85ft lb with arp moly lube. Or is there something I am missing since it is a 2.4L with and Cometic mls gasket I just heard of a few too many horror stories and am tryinh to avoid them.

Thanks

Alen

Well I plan on running about 27-30 psi with race gas, and maybe down the road I will run a methanol kit. Why would I need to O ring the block with my set up, and how much does it cost to do it ? I was thinking with both my head and block having a perfect finish with the cometic mls I thought it would seal for sure. But more input would be appreciated so I can make the right decision.

From what I was told by my vendor that I ordered my parts for my 2.4L build the only company that makes a headgasket for a 2.4L is Cometic. I wanted to personally use a composite gasket, but was told they dont make the composite for the 87 bore. Anyone correct me if I am wrong on this.

You might want to consider an o-ring setup depending on your goals and boost level. The last thing you want s your new setup to be pushing coolant.

O-rings will prevent combustion gases to make thier way to the water jackets and push coolant out due to the pressure.

Fel Pro make a compsite head gasket for the 2.4L. I am using a composite gasket with an o-ringed head.
