Ok, I'm building a 2.3L on a 93 block. I've lost all of my links for pistons, and am having the damnedest time finding anything. If anyone has links, part numbers, or anything that'd be great! I am looking to do .020 over.

your just getting normal pistons with a different crank,, do you need to bore it out? always safe to leave the metal there if your cylender walls are good ;)

but, http://www.slowboyracing.com/Engine.html is a good place to start looking at engine internals (even if you dont buy from them)

Man, 2.3L stroker means aftermarket parts, means money.... don't waste your money and your time on a 7 bolts block

depends on what kind of power your talking about, i'd just go with wiseco (what i call normal pistons,, LOL)

you could go with some insane piston/rod combo, but be realistic with your self, are you really going to build an 800+ HP car?

I'm having my short block built by SBR I went with their stage 1 short block because realisticaly, i dont think i'll ever make over 600WHP (this is a daily driver after all)

4g64 crank, stock bearings, eagle rods with wiseco pistons, thats what i sugest for a 7 bolt, if your more serious then that though, 6bolt time, machined, nitrated cryo'd and then start looking for the internals

try not to be a complete f43g, mmk. thanks.

infact, when building a motor, the 92-94 7 bolts are your best option.

the ONLY aftermarket parts you need for a 2.3 is the pistons, as the crank is oem along with the rods.

please find your way out of this thread.

Not trying to argue .. but why do you say the 92-94 7 bolts are the best to build up? Hell I built my 97 7 bolt .. I could care less about all this over rated crankwalk crap .. I'm just wondering why you say that. ( always thought a 6 bolt is the best to buid .. stock big rods and slight chance in walking ) And yes you are right .. only AFTERMARKET PISTONS are needed .. nothing else.

I know the only aftermarket part needed is the pistons! I'm currently building my own 2.3L

But who will put stock rods in a stroker engine?!?!

I just meant building a stroker engine, or even a 2.0L, take money, and I still don't understand people wasting time and money with 7 bolts.

You have the parts in hands, it's time to swap!

Sorry I didn't want to bi***

I'm putting eagle rods in my 2.3L,, why not? I'm already in there and want to make sure they'll last me till at least 600hp

They aren't "normal" pistons if you mean normal stock 2L pistons from any MFG. They are a custom design w/ the wrist pin moved up 6mm to compensate for the longer stroke of the crank.

For a part number, try this -
Wiseco part #'s

4G63 2.3 = K571M (8.8-9.0:1)
4G64 pre92 rods = K564M (8.8:1)
4G64 93 up rod = K548M (9.3:1)
- I found that in another thread I had bookmarked. I'd verify those pistons meet the size/bore/stroke first. I got mine in a kit thru Carshopinc.com.

You can always try these guys too!!

Anyway, good luck! Mine should fire up this weekend

take off a 6 bolt pan and a 1g 7bolt pan. the major difference will be seen right away.

stock 6 bolt rods will get you there or beyond like many others have.

So how you spill the secret for those of us without a 7bolt oil pan to take off :D

its been said before, but rods are cheap insurance in an expensive motor. You have everything apart, why not spend $300 or $400 dollars on aftermarket rods. I'm no expert on the subject, but the rod angles on the 2.3 and 2.4 are worse and could cause more stress on the rods, yet another good reason to upgrade while you are in there

Call Marco and ask him about his squish pad/atni-detonation style pistons. That's about the only thing I can attribute my my cars willingness to run 26-27 psi on 91 octane and 9:1 compression to. No special tuning, just kept turning up the boost until it started knocking. Previous 2.0L 95 piston motor wouldn't take any more than 22 psi before becoming inconsistant.

When the block is assembled measure how far in the hole the pistons are and order a cometic gasket in a thickness that will give you .035 - .045 piston to head clearance. Tight piston/head clearance is required to make them work as they should.

As with all things, your results may vary, but I am definately pleased with mine.

I know this sounds stupid bu twhats the difference between a stroker piston and just a normal piston????

a stock crank has a stroke of 88mm, a stroker crank(2.4 crank) has a stroke of 100mm. If you used normal 4g63 pistons they would stick out of the block and hit the head. Therefore the wristpin is moved upward(6mm I believe) to make the piston sit lower.
