ok, here it goes. i have a '90 GSX, installed a wallbro 255 last week, and didn't think it was engaging, so I hotwired it. there's an aftermarket distribution block in front of the ECU that the previous owner installed for a security system, so i stuck a 30A fuse into an empty slot on it, ran a wire to the pump, hooked up the battery, and blew the fuse at the terminal for the distribution block. now, i have no power to the ignition switch, headlights will go up but not turn on, no turn signals but do have hazards, i have dome lights, but the only light i have in the dash is the door ajar light. no seat belt, battery, check engine, oil or brake light. no stereo, heater, windows, and no crank. doesn't even crank. anybody have any ideas?

On the battery there is a fuse box with 3 fuses. 2 red and one blue. Sounds like you blew the ignition fuse, which is one of the red fuses in that box.

Lil late, but I agree with mischif sounds like a ignition fuse he alrdy what an where, that was check that out an let us no what's up.

ok, so all the links off of the terminal are intact and i replaced all the blown fuses and disconnected the fuel pump harness in the trunk and it cranked just fine.

what inside the pump could be causing the short? or could it be in the fuel pump relay?

By the way, this is all to fix my ef up. i ran a hotwire to the pump in an attempt to get it to fire up when it was already engaging. the only thing that I did originally that hasn't been removed is the quicksplice on the power wire for the pump and this is still happening. where does the black wire on the ignition switch get its power from? If I add power to it from a different source, everything is all fine and dandy until i hook the pump up and blow all the fuses

Is it possible the pump wires are reversed and power is shorting out at the pump somehow ? If it keeps blowing fuses only from pump there must be a short to ground on the circuit somewhere, break out the multimeter, disconnect the pump wires and test the pump side for continuity to ground.

no, the pump wires are exactly where the original wires were. best i can think of: A)the pump is drawing too much power, or B) the ring for the positive connection on the top of the hanger is making contact with the hanger

alright. now, where does the black wire on the ignition switch get its power from? solid black, no tracers

My 1990 FSM says there isn't a black without and tracer at the ignition switch connector. Keep in mind that the colors of the pigtail wires from the harness connector to a switch or sensor often don't match the harness wire colors due to the part being used on several cars.

The wires are:

1 NC
2 Blue/Black ON output
3 Blue ACC+ON output
4 Black/White ST+ON output
5 Black/Yellow ST output
6 White Input from Ignition fuse on battery.

Trace your black wire back to the connector to see what it is connected to.

The black wire I was talking about becomes the white wire at the connector, but the ignition fuse isn't blown...

Correction. The link is blown. Swapped it for the seat belt link, no seat belts

Resolved! I pinched the power wire between the tank and the top of the hanger. Thank you
