Our transmissions suck. I blew third gear right into one million pieces. Both gears got shreaded. So I took it apart with the help of a local dsm guy/guru and compared our n/t gears to the turbo gears. Our gears are thinner and the teeth are thinner. Everything is smaller and shittier. Third gear is the smallest and weakest as well. Right when I start putting power to the wheels, it's going through the smallest gears.

So if you are thinking of doing the conversion and plan on running more than 20psi on a evo 3 16g, DON'T. I did it and the transmission could not take the power well. All in all, the gears are a lot weaker.

Ok So just out of curriosity in your opinion (and hopefully this hasn't got answered) How much power can the N/T transmission take before it goes BOOM (well it is more of a grinding noise isn't it)? I am in the process of doing the swap so i will probably be using the N/T with the stock power coming from the engine (200hp maybe i will get it up to 250) Is that enough to wreck the transmission?

SORRY!!!! I didn't look to see when the thread was posted. I was using the search option and i though this was posted sooner. My bad:(

But does anyone still have an answer for this question?:D

I am sure I have heard that our trannies can handle alot more than 250 HP, but I don't know about the 1 gens tranny. Sorry man IDk if our trannies are the same. Hope this helps.

I did read that and watch the video. Scary how the transmission will rip itself apart that fast. Back to the question though how much hp do you think you were running. I am still wondering if stock hp or 250hp will break the N/T transmission. With a EVO 3 16b you had to be running lots of boost. What HP do you think is safe?
