1G Transmission in a 2G

I'm looking at buying a used Shep racing transmission from someone local. He said the only thing I need for it to work in my 2G (he has a 91 Talon TSI AWD) is a 23 spline transfer case.

Do I need anything else?

Yeah, a new case for it. There is 1 motor mount on a 1g and 3 motor mounts on the trans of a 2g.

If You are talking about the stage 4 that Mike is selling, he was putting it in the '91, but it is a 2g tranny. If its not him, disregard.

Actually, yes, that is the one I was talking about.

I'm still trying to find a 23 spline transfer case. A member on here is selling one, but he doesn't know how many miles are on it. Not to mention, I'd rather find one locally so I don't have to pay shipping costs.

Like I said, I hope you are planing on pulling all the internals out of the 1g trans and putting them in the 2g trans....................

The tranny is from a 2G. I think I said that, so there would be no need to change the internals.

1g trans in 2g car = no front or rear motor mount.

Yup. But he already clarified what tranny it is. To put the 2g in a 1g, he would be short 2 mounts. But the tranny actually is a stage 4 for a 2g. Now he is just needing the t-case. I actually know the Guy selling it, and he was fitting it in a 1g though. Probably where the confusion came from.

No, You can not put a 1g transmission in a 2g. You can put a 2g transmission in a 1g though. You're trying to put a circle in a square hole.

Cool. So We all agree that You CANNOT put a 1g tranny in a 2g. So he wont have to worry about that, just get the 23 spline t-case and bolt it all in.
