ok heres the problem i got two bodies right now, a 92 6/4 combo and a 96 talon awd 7 bolt. I have a fully built six bolt ready to be dropped in but i am not sure which body i want to drop it in? i like the 96 but i am a little confused since this the first full build i have done.....If i drop the six bolt in the 96 will i have to use the 2 intake manifold and everything? Is it worth the extra headache? i have looked on magnus motorsports for the six bolt swap info it seems easy enough right? just would like some thought from other people who have done the swap and since im a newbie status and cant post in other sections of the forums

If i were in your shoes i would put the motor in the second gen. Then again i am a little biased.:) I have not yet had to do the six bolt swap yet to give you any first hand knowledge on that but either way you take good luck to you.

What are your intentions for the vehicle? If you are thinking autocross I would go with the 1g, if your going for show and go, then take the 2g. But ultimately it has to be your decision.

The 1g is lighter, but the 2g is a little more aerodynamic & stylish.

1G Talon / Eclipse 3108
1G Laser 3073
2G Talon/Eclipse 3157 / 3234

Personally I'd do the 2g, but that's cause I like the way they look. There are ups to the 1g also.

Are you wanting this for street car, road course, Auto-x, drag or any/all of the above.

I'd say go with the 2g if you're going to be on the street a lot . But, that's for looks (I love me a clean 2g.).

If it's going to be a all track car, I'd go with the 1g. They also seem easier to fix when they get dinged up.

Of course that's my two cents. Ultimately it's up to you. Good luck in choosing.

man this can be a hard decision.
1g- already has 6 bolt motor, 4 bolt rearend, but ugly as shit and breaks down more than a emo kid
2g- has 7 bolt but will spend time non running doing swap, but is sexy but still breaks down a lot
my 2 cents haha! :thumb:

i wanted 2g before so bad,but right now, pfff i dont care.i like how the 1g looks.FMIC, nice exhaust, good looking rims,1.5 inch drop ,fresh paint.thats all you need to make your 1g better then 2g LOL) but im FWD.... whish i could be AWD :)

That's the hardest choice ever. Wow. Seeing as how I have a 1 and 2g, too... wow!

They're both good looking, both can go straight and can turn.

1gs are lighter and easier to work on, but the 2g is only a tick more annoying to work on.

I don't know, man. Flip a coin?

I would go with the Second gen just for parts availability for it as it is getting harder to find parts for the first gen especially those small body parts an interior pieces an I liked the looks of the second gens looks better too as you have so many more choices for body kits and the like.

yeah im still deciding this is a hard decison LOL...i just came across a another 96 talon for cheap and its awd just needs a clutch. i have worked on many of the 1g but only one or two of the 2g i wouldn't think it would be any harder. i dont know i just love how the 2g look and they have so much more room. i feel like a sardine in a 1g its so little for me being 6 foot 215
