Ok, i have been searching around, but havent really been able to find what im looking for. I just got a 1g intake mani, fuel rail, and TB in. I know my UICP will have to be changed to fit onto the TB, or just get a new UICP. My main question is, putting the 1g intake mani on the 2G block. I know the holes are not going to match up perfect, can you still put the mani on with out porting it out?

If there is a link that answers this just point me to it.

Thanks

yes you can ... I guarantee your car will be slower though. You either have to portmatch the head ... leave it alone, or swap the head as well ( that's what I did )

damn that sux, guess ill just be useing the TB and rail then. Definatly dont have the $$$ for a complete head job, or to buy a 1G head.

has a better flow then the 2G rail, plus its more adaptable for a AFPR, or shall i say a directly bolt on for some AFPR, as the 2G rail is not

you won't gain anything from swapping rails. As far as afprs being a bolt on to the 1g rail I didn't know ... I thought either way you had to either weld a flange to the rail or reroute the fuel lines. My friend had to weld a flange onto his 1g rail to install an aeromotive unit.

The 1G rail does not have better flow than a 2G does, they are both the same inside. I have both rails sitting at my house, they are the same.

If you want a fpr just get the port for the end of the rail that gives you a barbed fitting or AN fitting. Better yet do what I did and tap the end of the rail and screw in your own fittings and add a FPR that way. Check out my gallery for info on that.

The 1G throttle body is a good mod and definately worth the hassle.

well heres where it sits now. My plan is to get a 1g Head and do the swap. Have a decent port job done on the head.

Damn, and i thought i could see the end to what my plans are for my car.

Everyone, thanks for the insight on that.

And DSMJim, my lack of knowledge, ill believe you, but i was under the understanding that MITSU change the 2G fuel rail for a more even flow across all 4 injectors, to improve over the 1G, but made it worse in the process. But i have been wrong before, ill be wrong again. Thats why i have you guys :thumb:

Thanks again

I think the main reason you'll want to run the 1G rail is to clear the larger TB, the 1G rail is shorter. I don't think it'll have much if any performance enhancing effects. Besides, it'll also let you use the most of the better AFPR's without any adaptation.

I put the 1G intake ('92-'94) and TB on my '96 GSX and all that really needs to be done is a bit of port matching. With a cleanup radius valve job and the port matching w/ the 1G intake mani you get the best of both worlds (flow of the 1G and the velocity of the 2G) plus the better flowing exhaust side that the 2G head has. This could easily be a match made in heaven.

HKS also makes a pretty big TBE (I think you can get them at Options Auto Salon still) that just adds that much more flow potential.

There is a lot of speculation these days that you don't have to do the whole 1G head swap to reap all of the benefits anymore.
