Ok,

so I want to get a bumper on my car. now here are the ideas/what I've heard from friends. The 1G eclipse/talon bumper is not very strong, so if I cut it out and it may crack. So I was thinking about speed holes like the honda boys homer simpson style. I know it sounds stupid, but with a circular drill if I cut holes to keep the structrual integrity of the front bumper. I know I need to further cut out my bumper beam.

Here is the front of the car currently...

I used to have my bumper on, but took it back off to fix my FMIC, b/c one day I hit a low spot in the road and it cocked my FMIC to the drivers side about 2 inches, as you can see in the pics, and havn't got it back on yet. I threw out my steel bumper support totally. I went to Lowes and got some steel bendable strapping and was able to make it support itselft w/out flapping in the wind. I will do a better job next time when I re-mount it, as it was a little low under the lights. Also, you can see I cut A LOT out of mine and it never cracked.

PS. Please change the size of the pic, it is too large.

Thanks, it looks good, Im computer retarded and didn't realize how big the pic would be. I'll edit it now...

ive gotten to basically the same place as you, except im using a johnny race car fmic so i dont have to cut as much. i was thinking about just cutting where it needed to be, which would be about 1-2 inches on the sides, and probably none closer to the middle, would this still be bad? which part cracks? any suggestions on what i should use to cut it with? i cant seem to find anyone with an angle grinder. how much are they about?

I measured and taped off exactly wher i needed to cut. Trying to do curves is more of the hard part, rather than straigh lines. The tape really helped to use as a straight edge.

I don't know where all this "cracking" info is comming from. The bumpers are plastic and have quite a bit of "play" in them. I have yet to crack mine. Sure, a incident w/ a curb or telephone pole will crack it, but not the occasional scrape on the road.

bought an angle grinder today, do you suggest i do all my measurements with the extenders (if thats what they are called, the things that attach the huge metal bumper to the car, they are kinda like long cylinders) attached to the bumper or the car, or neither? also, the bottom of my intercooler is just bearly over the top of the lowest part of the car. its hard to explain, but that one beam that goes along the entire bottom that the oil cooler and ac dryer are attached too, my intercooler is just above that, do you think that is too high? will it look funny?

The more I look at these pics the more I itch for a fmic. SBR states you can retain your fog lights yet you guys remove them. Is it just easier to remove them? I will get my front mount this spring after I iron out all the wrinkles of the new car. The person before me did some mods to it so I have to go behind him and fix all the stuff he screwed up.

fog lights just get in the way and are pretty pointless, i have mine on just becaues my fmic is so much smaller than the sbr fmic.
