After looking for some options to do a 6 bolt swap on my 2g eclipse i found that the most cheaper and reliable way to do it was to buy the full 6 bolt working car, i found a 92 laser turbo with a 6 bolt engine for just a thousand dollars, a great deal, so my question is

Is the laser turbo engine the same of the eclipse/talon? i mean no differences at all on the parts used during the swap?

:D

..like the EXACT same. You will be very suprised. If you have the same gen car (not to mention the same year) all DSM parts are compatible with eachother.. lasers, eclipses, talons...and sometimes even galants all use the same parts

or, you could just rebuilt that 7bolt with some better parts if you dont mind the downtime, or its in your budget.

Are you planning on doing the swap yourself?

You will want to make sure that it is a 6 bolt if that's what you want; mid 92 production is when they started putting 1g 7bolts in DSMs. There are differences between the 1G & 2G 7 bolt engines but they will pretty well bolt up depending on what parts you use from each car.

How am I sure about this? I am almost finished (like top radiator hose & intake/wastegate vacuum lines away from complete) swapping a 1G 7 bolt into my daughter's 95 TSi FWD AT car. The flexplate bolted right up to the 2G torque converter and other than a couple of different length bolts being needed on the bellhousing (the 2G block is different near the front roll mount) it all went together pretty well. Be sure to use the 2G timing cover mounting plates on the head or else you'll have a hard time keeping the middle cover out of the PS belt... don't ask!
