Hello everyone,

I’m new to the DSM culture and would like an opinion on this subject. I bought a 1999 Eclipse GS from a mechanic shop and put a new battery and spark plugs in so far. Will be doing an oil change and will drain the gas tank and put new gas in it. I attempted to start it (I know I should have not but I did) and this is the sound that it makes. Any ideas of what it might be?

It's always hard to say for sure from a video but most likely either your ignition module or fuel pump

Best you can do (easily) is check spark, and if it gets fuel...

take your sparkplugs out, connect them to sparkplug wires and ask a friend to crank the car, if you have spark, good! If not, I bet it's either your ignition module or cam/crank sensor

For fuel, there's 2 8mm bolts holding the fuel line on the fuel rail, disconnect fuel pump relay and crank car couple times gas pedal on the floor to get rid of fuel pressure before you open the line.
Disconnect fuel line from the fuel rail and place that end in a bottle or container to catch the fuel (if anything comes out) reconnect the fuel pump relay and ask friend to prime fuel lines a few times and then crank it few times, if any gas is coming out, that's good! But your car should run or at least sputter at that point, if no gas, it's your fuel pump, would recommend change the filter too!

You also have 2 big relays next to your brake booster, another one is ASD (automatic shut down) relay and if it's out, you won't get spark or gas, you can try to swap out those relays (they're same relays)
