Alright so I have read just about every single thread on 19" Rims. However, this one is pretty specific to my car. I have done the wheel calculator, and everything else, but still have a few questions about rubbing.

The Wheel Calculator says they are they are almost the SAME exact circumference, BUT it is the WIDTH I am concerned about. I'm going from a 7" wide rim to a 8.5" wide rim.

The Stock Rim dimensions are:
17 Inch Tall
7 Inch Wide
+42mm Offset
215/50R17 Tire Size

Stern ST-1 Rim's dimensions are:
19 Inch Tall
8.5 Inch Wide
+38mm Offset
235/35R19 Tire Size

why would you want 19's just wondering and can we get a pic of them

Maybe because 2g DSM's have a fender well perfect for super swamper tires? That could be a reason. I really think 2G DSM's with 16's look like pure ungodly ass. Enough fender well you could fit your body in between the tire and fender! 17's still look like ass unless there is like a 50 series tire wrapped around the wheel and atleast a 2" drop! 19's on a 1" Drop look insane!

Have fun dealing with potholes and such. My 18's aren't fun as is. I wouldn't really go any higher than 18's because to me that just becomes ghetto LOL.

"Ghetto" is when you would put $2000-4000 20"-24" Chrome Rims or Spinners on a $1000 Car.

Back to the OP. I am wondering about fitament issues. I would like to know if ANYONE is running the same setup. It is stock suspension for now.

i agree with 97 gsx. i think 18 is the perfect weekend criuser size for a 2g. with the right suspension, its just plain sexy. you also have to think that 19" tires are a lot more expensive than 17 or 18" tires. might want to keep that in mind when you make your selection. me, i rock the stock 16's that "look like pure ungodly ass."

true when i was deciding on rims i was not going to get 19's way to ghetto... LOL but yah i happened to fit a set of enkie 18x9's with no rub

I wouldnt think you would have a problem with that width of rim but I'm not sure. I wish I could afford some 19's, I would so rock them. Everyone that says dont do it, are just weenies. I rock 18's with a 2 inch drop, not a problem what so ever.

Most of the members on this site are geared towards performance. Rocking 18s and 19s doesnt help the 1/4 times or the fuel mileage either one. Think about that in the long run because ive seen 18s on a car add almost a full second vs the stock 15 or 16 inch setup. Im sure the same would apply to a dsm.

and to the above post ungodly ass? ever see a clean laid out car on some 16 stockers? they are one of the hardest most popular wheels to find for a reason.. and to the OP your 2g came with 17s stock?

Of course it will hurt performance and 1/4 mile times. But if the man wants to run 19's then he obviously isnt worried about that. Some one had stated that 18s didnt work or ride well. I was saying that with my particular wheel/suspension combo, I dont have any problems with fit, function, or overall drivability, ride, comfort or anything. And with my 2 inch drop and 18s I still have alot of room to expand, so I would suggest going with 19's, like I want to do one day.

Ill second the thought on a DD sitting on 19s. I bought some ADR GT sports one time running 35 series tire. I bent one and goodbye 1800. The ride is rough and your suspendsion better be in good shape. Your going to feel every rock and crack on the roadway. I would consider ride quality before I dropped a chunk of change on 19s not to mention the price of tires whenever they begin wearing

Agreed, I have 17's with 215/40 tires and I avoid pot holes like the plague, hope you got really smooth roads where you live ;)

Can we please keep the opinions about 16's vs. 17's vs. 18's vs. 19's out of this topic. If i wanted to post a thread about which rims to chose I would have done so. That is not my intended purpose.

******I simply want to know if the rims stated in the OP would fit without any rub. If you have 19's please feel free to comment about your experience. If you have 16's, 17's, or 18's please don't fill this thread up with flames. I don't want to hear any bullsh*t about how much better different size rims are. The ONLY other size I am considering is 18's of the SAME SET.

I know you don't want the 16's, 17's, or 18's discussed but look at my car. This is 18X8's with 225/40/18 tires and a 1.75 inch drop on just springs and struts. If I had coilovers the fitment would obviously be much much better. If your looking for a flush fitment and a smooth ride i would suggest 18's because everyone with 19's instantly regrets it. Don't call BS on me because your only asking for trouble with 19's.

Normal 19" wheels on a 2g dsm there are no issues. Alot of people run 19's. But like some said, it hurts performance. Also their are pot holes. And then when you see your tiny brakes, you'll want some huge brakes. But for looks, nothing beats a 2g DSM with some nice 19's. 18's look good to. But 17's are way to small without a fat tire wrapping them. 16's... Hell no! I think Mitsu should have made the 2g fender wells smaller, cause then we wouldn't have to worry about it.

I think running 18's on a 1g are like running 19's on a 2g.

97 GSX, There is no doubt your car looks great.

As of right now this is how my car looks. These will be my winter & Track (If I ever go) Tires.

I run 245/35/19 on 7.5 rims with no issues. I started out with 215 and the ride was shit. The 245 ride is like butter smooth and stock like but with better grip. They dont rub but yes theres a gapping hole with the stock brakes. I did use a fender flare tool to bump out the lip alittle but dont think I really needed it. I droped the front about an 1.5" and the rear about an 1" The first picture is with 215"s and the second 245"s. The 215's are avaliable if anybody wants them, PM me.

Well you said you could go with 18's of the same rim design. I say go with 18's, you'll save yourself some money and your ride will be a little smoother. Those are nice rims by the way :thumb:
