Well i have been running a 16g at 15 PSI on my MBC. But i cant get near redline 7K becuase around 6500 rpm i will be around 16.5/17 PSI on my stock fuel system due to a slight creep and i hit fuel cut badly. Now i just bought a 190 LPH fuel pump and im going to rewire it, but im very very low on funds at this point and can only maybe afford some 550 injectors and an SAFC... My question is With the Fuel pump, injectors, and SAFC Will i be able to support 17psi with out any Form of Pocketlogger or knowing what is going on in my engine???? Becuase the pocketlogger will run me another 200 or so dollars which i wont have for a while due to college. I have an air fuel gauge thats about it for fuel management and all thats basically worthless unless your into watching blinking lights bounce back and fourth.

i would suggest a dyno tune,,, im not sure if you have THAT much money left over to work with or not through, otherwise youll have to just play around with fuel until its all good.

hmm....17psi, 550cc, s-afc, and a 190lph....sounds ok by me. buddy of mine is running a ported/ clipped Big 16g with 550's, s-afc, and a 225hp (rewire of course) at 20psi daily for over a year..no probs. best bet is to get an egt gauge, but u said u kind of strapped for cash so that may not be possible yet. don't even bother tuning off that a/f gauge..they're worthless. what u can do is when u install the s-afc wantch ur o2 sens. volatge (in-2 under sensor check menu) tune based on that. .91 is obviosuly ideal, but u may only be able to do short pulls tuned like that. when i set up my 20g for highway i tuned for .91 up to 4500, .93 til 7000, yea being a lil richer up top may rob some hp, but it's better then stayin on the gas during an intense pull and having ur egt's peak over 900C. just a lil advice....OH if u got access to a rotozip or similar buy a $25 carbide bit and port the shit out of ur o2 housing and actuator pass..helps alot with the creep on 16g's.

I know this may not be the best place to ask but you seem to know alot about the 16g turbo. Would i be better off with 550cc of 660cc? I have seen many people use the 550cc but will there ever be a point that I will want 660cc with the 16g turbo?

ok 660's in my opinion are the ideal injector for ur average dsmer. they have flow rates that when paired with piggy-back or standalone..can support turbo's as small as a 16g up to a .57trim t3/t04. i think thats why everyone always pushes for them. to be honest with you, if you NEVER EVER EVER plan on going bigger than a 16g, 550's will be sufficient up to 21psi (maybe higher, but 21 is what i've seen). but later on down the road, when u make ur goal of 3-350whp, and the 16g just isn't cuttin for u anymore, and you decide u wanna jump to that td06-20g:thumb: , fpgreen:thumb: or biggerOMG then you have to buy yet another set of injectors... you see where im going with this....

believe it or not for 20 psi an intercooler upgrade is also necessary. A heatsoaked smic = knock. I'd say 17 psi max on a 16g with stock intercooler. Just get the pump and rewire it ... port the wastegate and O2 and turn the boost to 17. You should be fine at 17 with stock injectors and without an safc. Borrow a logger to make sure ... ( if you have a 1g upgrade injectors ... 2g injectors should be fine for this )

1fast is definately right about the intercooler, if u plan on exceeding 17psi then an i/c upgrade is a must. both my old set up and my boys 16g set up have fmic's equipped.

1 fast u really think the stock 440's enuff for 17psi on a 16g? hmm...wonder how close to 100% duty cycle he'd be at?

Not really good advice. Using the "blue-wire mod" deteriorates the O2 signal to the ECU. Also, the O2 voltage can vary from car to car and setup to setup. Not only that but it's ignored by the ECU when going WOT for a reason...it's not reliable.

As for the 17psi on stock injectors, that is cutting it just too close without some type of logging device or EGT to watch temps. I say throw in the 190 and keep the boost around 15psi until you can invest in a logger and/or some bigger injectors. Remember, if you are broke now, imagine how much it's going to suck when you have to replace your melted rings. :thumb:

not saying that cr is wrong about tuning on o2 voltage. but i've tuned based on that before i got my logger and my egt always rose according to how rich or lean the s-afc was telling me. of course logging and egt gauges are the best indicators of whas goin on inside, but that was a "temporary" piece of advice. but he may be right, throw in the 190 and keep it at 15psi.

I was looking at buying the set up that extremepsi is selling where you get the injectors, pump and safc for $700 ($620+80 for the 660cc) but I think before i do that I will be getting a logger. if I get a logger would you recommend still getting an egt guage? or will the logger cut it?

what about running the big 16g wit a front mount intercooler, 510cc injectors, super afc, and a walbro 190 fuel pump w/ Air Fuel Gauge. How would that work and what would be the most boost u can push out of that system?
