Evo 16g questions.

search and ye shall find. IMO going from 14b to 16g is not worth it... if you plan on stayin in the 16g HP range you can definately squeeze it out of your 14b. this is , of course, if your turbo isn't crapping out on you.

i think 14b is 450 cfm vs. the b16g at 550 cfm... whereas the 20g is 650 cfm... maybe it's just me but i'd spend the money on the 20g or put the money into supporting mods to get the most out of the 14b..

if you think i'm crazy :

porting is ALWAYS beneficial. in most cases you will get some sort of boost creep if you do not. and i'm not sure, but i dont think the evo is a 7cm.

as for clipping, people say it's retarted and a waste of money and other's say it helps top end , which apparently negates the fact that it slows spool up and ultimately will shorten the life of your turbo. once again, clipping is a mixed feeling. however, porting is NOT!

while you have the car down... look into getting other things ported too.. i.e, o2 housing and manifold. or you can just upgrade to the 2g stuff

Well, my DP is a 02 eliminator and my exhaust mani is already ported. I would keep my 14b however the turbo is tanking. Cracks through my housing and bolts broken in the turbine housing means it's time for a new turbo. I would like a 20g or 50 trim but don't have the 800+ for one. Just need something new to get my car moving again. Thanks!

I wouldn't port the turbo. In fact, I didn't port it, and it seems to be doing ok for me. ;)

If you already have an O2 eliminator, you might not get any creep. If you do get creep, you can port the inlet of the turbo to direct exhaust at the wastegate more.

I ran an 11.98 with the Evo III 16G over the weekend in my 3315lb 2G. I think it is worth the upgrade from a 14B to an Evo III.

Hey I heard your post about the 11's nice job. I too am actually in the market for an evo 16G right now because I think its about time to upgrade the t25...can I get a AMEN. Anyway's high 11's low 12's is probably my goal and I'm actually in the process of rebuilding the car (spun a bearing). I am wanting to keep the bottom end stock for now atleast since I'm doing all the proper supporting mods. So the long winded question is, you said your 16G wasn't ported.......ah but is it clipped I asked?

Nope! No clip, either. The turbo spools up so damn fast and gives a really nice midrange punch. It would be a shame to kill that with a clip.

Really, actually I'm very happy to hear that because I really want to keep spool low and still be able to obtain that.
