I agree, and disagree with a lot said here.

A lot of people say that inexpierenced drivers should not own high powered cars. AGREED.

I'm 18, and while not as expierenced as some, I would say I have a lot more driving ability than a lot of the idiots I see on the freeway.

I have done a lot of stupid shit on local roads/highways/neighborhoods. A lot of it I look back on and thought how bad it could of ended if some little thing went differently.

But at the same time, if you are going to be stupid, you gotta be smart about it. There is a difference between driving dangerously, and driving smart dangerously. For instance, I know the limits my car has, I know how fast I can take which turns, and how much I can speed up on certain strips of roads.

Illegal speed contests are extremely dangerous, and something I've slowly started to get away from. I've still been known to do it from time to time, but for the most part, I've avoided "Cruising the strip for races."

BTW, so far my driving record is perfect, not a single accident, speeding ticket, or any other violation. I've been pulled three times. Two of which were for "Random License Checks" which is something the local cops do to check High Schoolers (I'm a graduate). The third was for 42 in a 35, which he let slide with a warning.

I don't say I am "Good" driver, but I know when I'm pushing the limits, and when I'm endangering others. If one day I ignore my instincts and do something insanely stupid, and a wreck insues because of my actions, I hope I am the one that is hurt the most, because they were my actions, and I have to pay for them, including death.

My best wishes to the family

Yeah, Street Racing, but a cop can't write you a ticket for Street Racing, its Spontaneous and Willful Speed Contest. At least thats what a cop told a buddy of mine who owns a 3KGT VR-4 when he got caught.

loosing control+ditch+highspeeds=many flips

Just plan sucky man. I hope it wasn't a turbo, no 16 year old should own a high performance sports car.

And before I get the usual arguments, 99% of 16 year old that want a high performance sports car want to go fast. Most 16 year olds are not that experienced at driving. More math here....

Unexperience+lotsofpower=not good.

Best wishes for the family. The brother must feel horrible...

I'm 16, and I'm about to get a pretty heavily modded 95 TSi AWD. I would seriously have to say I'm a better driver than half of the soccer moms in their huge ass SUVs. For example I was at a light waiting to take a turn left. Well, my light turns to a green arrow as well as the one across from me. And what do you know... some stupid lady talking on her cell phone in an SUV jumps off the line going forward, assuming that because the people next to her were moving she could as well. Thank god I hesitated.

Almost all of my friends have gotten in a wreck or gotten a ticket within their first year of driving.

Thats the kind of mentality that gets people into wrecks. I'm sure the kid that died thought he was a badass driver too! And now look at what happened. If you're not a professionally TRAINED driver, or atleast 21 then you dont know JACK. Thats how the gov't sees it and I totally agree. I'm only 23 now but I was lucky enough to have a dad send me to "Fast Track High-Performance Racing School". After I got my license. They taught me alot of awesome manuevers and ways to think about 10-15 seconds ahead.

I'm no race car driver or anything like that, but I've only been involved in one accident since I was 16 and it was the other guy's fault. Thank GOD and knock on wood!

This thread is like 6 years old :applause: :p

Thats a big problem, Hear me out for a second. My first car was a subie gl 4banger 90 hp slow turd. I learned how to get every ounce of power out of that car so when I actually got something quick I was getting in all kinds of trouble.

DSM's turbo isn't a super hipo car.

well if the thread is 6 years old now, all of the 16yr old kids that were posting on the first page are their 20's now. Wonder if they would say the same things?

I'm glad that my parents didn't let me buy the 5.9L Dakota R/T i wanted when i was 17. Instead i owned a 12 second 2000 Lightning when i was 23, and would you know, i still wrecked it! Welcome back to AWD.

i dont get how you can rolll your car on a narrow road trying to pass someone. My rolling cage is comnig soon so i dont have to worry bouts that ne more.

like the other guy said, youll kill yourself when you hit your head on the cage. not to mention get injured when youre in a normal wreck because the cage will interfere with factory designed crumple zones.

I like how people are still addressing people that haven't logged in in years.

No parent should have to see there kids funiral. (sp?)

Darn right they shouldn't. My best friend was killed while sleeping in the backseat of a navagiator when he hit someone in his blind spot and rolled the vehicle. The kid was on his senior trip that he begged me to go to, but i gave him a definate no because i had to work on the dsm. This was over the summer. I cried and cried and cried some more. I broke down in the garage thinking of the time he helped me with my dsm. Kids dying is not fun.

I hate to say it but the kid should have known better. I did stupid stuff but it was on an empty straight road.
I feel really bad when this stuff happens something like this happened at my school.
A kid hit a narrow gravel covered turn at like 90 in a cherokee and its bad enough that there was gravel but being as top heavy as a lifted cherokee made it a whole lot worse. He didn't wear his seat belt and was partially ejected from the car and rolled 8 times while his buddy in the pass seat wore his lived and saw his dead buddy in the back seat.
It was sad.

oh damn i just saw the date of the first post haha stop bringin old threads back to life
