 i HAVE MY NEPHEWS 92 ECLIPSE. THE COMPUTER WAS THE FIRST TO GO ON HIM. REPLACED THAT AND THE CAR TRIED TO CRANK. WELL LONG STORY SHORT SOMEHOW I AM LOSING A 2 CLINDERS. I HAVE DONE A VALVE JOB AND EVEN HAD THE TOP OF THE BLOCK DECKED. GOT IT ALL TOGETHER AND I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I CAN CRANK THE ENGINE ON 1 AND 4 OR 2 AND 3. BUT WHEN I TRY TO PUT THE OTHER WIRES ON IT STARTS POPPING OUT THE EXAUST OR PINGING. TODAY I TOOK THE VLAVE COVER OFF AND TORQUE THE HEAD BOLTS TO 85 - 90 FT LBS. NO LUCK. HAS ANYONE HAD ISSUES WITH THE HEAD BOLTS?

i don't know what would cause this but torqueing the head down that much will crack the blocking i have mine torqued to 65 and i wouldn't go any higher than that..

well after reading the book some more the only thing I have not changed was the position of the dist. I have the rotor pointing to where number four maybe should be? the book says the rotor should be pointing down . Not really sure if this will make a difference. I have the firing order correct but maybe by having the number one wire where four should be is somehow causing the problem? Not really sure but am trying everything before I pull the head back off. thanks for your thoughts and when I find the propblem I am sure I'll be wishing I could kick my own butt. haha

FYI AS MY LAST STRAW I WENT INTO THE DISTRIBUTOR. SOMEBODY HAD ACTUALLY GONE INTO THE DISTRIBUTOR AND TURN OVER THE PLATE WITH THS HOLES IN IT. NOT EXACTLY SURE WHAT YOU CALL IT I WANT TO SAY HALL EFFECT PLATE BUT EMITTER COME INTO MIND AS WELL. ANYWAY I TURNED THE PLATE OVER AND THEN BROUGHT NUMBER ONE UP AND TIMED IT AND THE THING CRANKED UP AND IDLED. SO IF THE PLATE IS UPSIDE DOWN IT WILL RUN ON 1 AND 4 BUT WHEN YOU CONNECT 2 OR 3 IT POPS OUT THE EXAUST AND 2 MUST BE FIREING EARLY TO ALMOST KILL THE ENGINE. HOPE NOBODY GOES THROU :thumb: GH THIS BUT HERE IT IS ANYWAY.
