Jose Gonzalez made you that boot I talked to him when he's was starting out he also made me a nice one as well great guy

Yes great guy all around I asked him about parking brake handle but he didn't have one the 1G

I didn't even think about the parking brake boot! I'll have to shoot him a message and see about one
Yeah he didn't make me one because he didn't have a 1g parking brake handle so I bought one from redline Motorsports shame I'm not feeling the parking brake handle boot from redline Motorsports

It doesn't look like much BUT I had a day off to put some more work in. Pulled the seats out and vacuumed the entire carpet, still need to do the back half of the car but I need a nicer day to get everything else out. Took the shifter assembly out too, had my dad machine some shifter bushings for me should be a nice feeling shift now. Does anybody have any recommendations on interior paint? Looking to do the side bolsters of my seats black as they faded pretty bad.

Well I haven't been on this thread much as of late, however I finally found an engine hoist and engine stand for a damn good deal I couldn't pass up. Now I can really start making headway on getting this transmission out, then the engine itself. Slowly but surely I'll be chipping away at this thing again.

It's been nice and I just haven't had the motivation to tinker much, but today I got some work done.
Got the interior cleaned up and all the gross out of it, even threw the door panels back on too. I left the seats out since the headliner still needs redone. Slowly but f'n surely I'm making progress🤣🫡

The axles fought me a bit (at least the pass. side did). On a good note some PB blaster and air impact makes the world go round and every bolt came right out.

The driver side axle mid boot is torn and fortunately not entirely dry or packed with debris, going to clean it up and rebuild it.
1000003920.jpg
finally the axles are out and it's time to make work on this trans
1000003921.jpg
1000003922.jpg
its out! Good god that interesting 🤣 got it stuck a handful of times and my trans jack was not helping.

Man I'm getting excited, the engine is getting closer to coming out! Coolant drained, rad is out, alt is off, O2 housing and downpipe are off as well. There's so much room to work now🤣

I did some wheeling and dealing yesterday and managed to sell some stuff I had laying around AND picked up a trans for the talon for cheeeeap, $250 for a manual trans with T case.
1000003932.jpg
Just about 99% sure this is a 90 year trans which is no big deal to me. The T case is the aluminum body with the steel head which I've heard is better than the all aluminum ones. The even more fun thing I found is that someone must have swapped the transfer case input shaft in the trans to a 23 spline, however it's in pretty rough shape a long with the receiving end of the T case. Fortunately I do have a good 23 spline shaft I picked up from performance partout, now I'm on the hunt for a good receiving end on the T case.

I was told this was a good trans aside from possibly a 5th synchro issue, hopefully with these 2 trans I can make one good shifting unit

Opened up the transmission that I pulled from the car, drained a nice bit of water out🙄. Explains why it wouldn't shift through some of the gears, the 3/4 slider/huh was frozen together. Everything is pretty rough, still going to try and clean everything up. Fairly certain 2nd gear synchro is trash, the dogs on second seem like they've been ground a few times. I will get better pictures when I pull the gear clusters apart and clean them. Everything is now either in a marked ziplock bag, or a grocery bag

Been hard at work with this thing. Getting back to wrenching on it and I've gotten the driver side front lower control arm/spindle/hub off and even cleaned up the control arm some.

1000004398.jpg

Got the ball joint and front bushing removed as well and got the hub separated from the spindle
1000004399.jpg

I have 2 front wheel bearings, and inner/outer seals coming. I plan on powder coating these parts a nice gloss black as well

Small update, with the spare center differential, i chose to have one welded. I'm happy, this will go in the trans before it goes back in the car.

If you plan to street drive this i would say to not use the welded diff. They’re not fun. Lol
This is only going to be a weekend warrior, I do still have the other open diff for the sake of being able to swap it out and check clearances again. I'd like to get the 4 spyder upgrade someday.

Ended up just painting these parts over powdercoating as my oven setup had some issues. Anyway new wheel bearing in the driver side spindle and pressed the hub back on, I was really torn whether or not to paint the hub too. Ultimately I decided not to, I got the driver side control arm painted and energy suspension bushing installed. Threw it on the car as well. Yesterday I pulled the front sway bar out for new bushings and end links too! I'll have to get more pictures. Here's a comparison of what they looked like to now, much better I think. (Yes I installed the retaining ring and the seal post photos)

Spindle is back on the driver side! Really contemplating cleaning that hub up, looks rough with the flat black paint😂 Also thinking new struts will be on order before too long.
1000014398.jpg
I also got started on cleaning up and at least putting primer on the pass.control arm, need more flat black before I can spray it.

Slow but surely i'm putting in work, after this is all said and done my headliner still needs finished. All prepped and ready just need material.

I rebuilt my rear last winter, need to do the front this winter! Good work restoring this. I love to see people making progress

Man, when was the last time you guys saw one of these??

I got this a few years ago when I had my twin turbo stealth, these were pretty popular with the 3S cars from what I understood. Anyway got it cheap back then, like $80 cheap, sold the stealth and this with it (current owner and I are buddies) he doesn't want it so he mailed it back to me. I'm eager to try it out and mess with it, I like a learning curve on this old school stuff. Plan is to build a plug and play harness so there will be absolutely no hacking my OE wire harness apart. I have the injector adapter, A/FR harness and everything pictured. In the event this doesn't work out I will be going to a Link G4X ECU in the future
