give me a list of things i could do to bring it to the next level of clean, thinking about un bolting the harness and dropping it down, im not sure if you can see in this pic but the battery is mounted below, on the subframe.

constructive criticism please!

i had a 2g spark plug cover on , and it just didnt go well. the timing cover is off because im in the process of degree'ing my cam gears in for my setup. i may or may not put it back on.

and i kind of cheated, let me get a REAL picture haha,

<a href="http://s48.photobucket.com/albums/f224/mxdawg121/?action=view&amp;current=IMAG0253.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f224/mxdawg121/IMAG0253.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

i removed the stupid little filter on the valve cover and added SS lines for the catch can im making. also moved the egt under the mount.

+1, wrap the manifold as well.

for looks? or for temperature reasons?

<a href="http://s48.photobucket.com/albums/f224/mxdawg121/?action=view&amp;current=IMAG0252.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f224/mxdawg121/IMAG0252.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

i am working on the engine bay first, to clean it up a little. then i have to address the exterior BADLY haha

<a href="http://s48.photobucket.com/albums/f224/mxdawg121/?action=view&amp;current=IMAG0255.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f224/mxdawg121/IMAG0255.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

spray paint anybody? LOL

From what I can see it does look clean, although there is a lot that is black and the light is poor.

When you say clean, do you mean clean up the engine bay, or just a clean look?

Have you thought about removing many of the items bolted to the fire wall or mounted in the engine bad, injector resistor fuse, and placing them in more hidden locations. I lowered my resistor back to a bracket bolt near the bottom of my 1g, I hate cluttered firewalls. You can relocate you fuse boxes to the glove box or lower them. The problems with glovebox is you would have to do a rewire of the engine harness. Props if you have the time and patience to do a rewire.

I would also tuck away that manual boost controller on the right, lower it maybe, you have black vacuum wiring, if you ran that along the side it would almost be hidden while the controller is in another location. I know less vacuum hose is ideal.

I also would take that EGT and run it over the valve cover, following the spark plug wires. I used a 6AN hose bracket(hose support, the same item that holds most hallman MBC) , attached two of them to the cam gear cover bolts and ran a wideband o2 wires through the brackets to the intake manifold and then through the firewall. It gave a clean appearance because all the wire were in uniform. The fact you are running a tubular manifold and its rather large, compared to stock style exhaust manifold(2g evo3, HAFE, FP), the temps might not fair well with having wires in that close proximity.

Get a new brake reservoir cap, it will match the clean white of you valve cover.

I also started to take most brackets off the firewall, brake reservoir, and have them powder coated since most of them are a bit rusty.

Can you take a new picture with better lighting and maybe a better birds eye view of the engine bay?

edit: nevermind, my post was late.

The harness wires where the stock battery used to be looks a little messy. I'm a big fan off silicon radiator hoses with t bolt clamps too. A nice shiny aluminum radiator. Also the brake fluid reservoir bracket looks a little rusty. But all in all it aint to bad nice work.

well, kind both. i am going to unbolt the harness from the wall and see how that looks, lower it, maybe tuck it behind the battery. move the resister box, i will move the mbc. i would love to do something with the fusebox, ill look into lowering it. contimplating taking the wipers/motor out. i tried cleaning the caps to the best of my ability but it just had too many layers of different colors of spray paint on it, i have a parts car i will rob it from that and clean it up.

i agree 100% , i guess i should just start cutting wires i will never use i.e. cruise control, stock bcs, all ac lines, o2 harness, ect ect. then i can unloom that mess and condense it.

Both temp and looks.

DEI Makes a titanium wrap that looks 100% better than the old-school fiberglass wrap.

Plus it will increase spool keeping the heat in the exhaust until it passes through the turbo.

-Fuse box to inner fender well.
-Custom wiring harness with only wires you need, wrapped up in the expandible sleeving ( Loom & Loom Clamps )
-Clean or new brake and clutch reservoirs
-Paint valve cover (wrinkle black looks awesome)
-COP conversion - Or re-locate coil packs to back side of intake manifold.
-Remove all wires, grounds, etc from firewall, and relocated to lower firewall or elsewhere
-Braided clutch line and run under trans mount.
-Nice stainless oil catch can and coolant reservoir?

..Thats just for starters, GET TO WORK!!!!

looks good since last time I saw it... LOL 2 days ago?

yeah from the look of the valve cover it doesn't look completely polished maybe some vht wrinkle red or black might look good

i shaved it myself so its not perfect.

wasn't looking to spend money, just time :thumb:

LOL i know just messin with ya...PS that guy with the 240 hasnt texted me back yet, so idk if im gunna need the trailor LOL

i would put the upper timing cover back on.

reroute the wiring in the engine bay and drop the injector resistor pack dawn the wall. Move the fuse box

clean up the break and clutch bottles and caps

re route the vac lines so they are not visible

move the grounding straps to lower in the engine bay so you dont see them.

mount the coil pack on the back of the block and run the wires thru the runners on the intake manifold to get them away from the tbelt area and not as much red since its the only thing that color.

none of these things cost anything to do. just time

here is what my bay looked like after i moved the wiring harness and dropped the injector pack down. this is with all the wiring in the car

I would suggest getting a cam gear cover so you don't jack up the belt and then need to rebuild the head.

Zaklee makes a clear cover by the way.

mine is now on just didnt have it when pick was taken.

LOL, I was mentioning that about the OP. I figured you weren't done putting things on :p

How the hell did you mount the coil pack on the back of the block? I was thinking of popping off the intake manifold support bracket and mounting them to that.

JMF makes a bracket for it. You generally need to have the AC removed to use it.

Plus if you use the JMF bracket you can't do an alternator relocate.

OP, so much can be done. Redoing the wiring harness and relocating the fuse box will clean it up BIG time.

The custom wire harness / fuse box relocation won't happen for a while. This is mainly a strip car and it needs more attention to the performance aspect. But yes that will single handidly clean up the engine bay the best I agree.

Flash shows more then you really see but I tried cleaning up these without unlooming them and condensing

I built a mount that bolted into one of the unused holes on the back of the block that holds it.

It definitely looks better in person.

(off topic - Did you find anything with your fuel issue yet brian?)
