ok so a few months ago i was forced to stick my car in a shop because i was 500 miles from home and had to put in a new trans, well my pressure plate is jasoefjpas and i have to take the trans out....well i got to step freakin 10 where one removes the axles and somehow these guys have managed to BIND the axles in the hub, i have tried everything from a full blown sledgehammer to a friggin gear puller (it kicked the gear pullers ass, the arm popped off!!) lubbing it with liquied wrench, heating with a torch (not too much didn't want to ruin the grease and bearing inside the hub) everything...it's almost as if the axle is WELDED into it, wtf?! has anybody ever had a bound up axle in the spindle/hub before?? what else is there to do?

take it to a machine shop of some kind and have them press it out with a hydrolic press. Try not to beat on it too much or you might end up screwing up the splines.

holy crap dude, yeah i would imagine a hydro press would be the only thing capable, 'specially if it kicked a gear pullers butt........jesus man, what kinda luck is that, it's almost unheard of that a simple axle removal would require a hydraulic press.....i guess lady luck is PMS'n

Hahaha I had the EXACT same problem doing the MT swap. I had mine in a 25 ton hydrolic press trying to get the CV shaft out no way in hell. If your lucky and it pops I will be surprised. If not you are buying a new CV shaft and a Hub.

Well... I heard this kathunking noise... Turns out the axle was dead... turns out that the thing holding up the axle was worse off... something about a bolt seized into the engine!!!

I replaced the axles (replaced both front ones, costed me 1000$ in just parts, but in CDN), then I had to figure out that other problem...
Guys were giving me quotes like... 68$ an hour, NO guarantees as to how long. They made it sound like it was going to cost several hundred....

I lucked out. This guy did it for 150$. Phew.

Ah why were they even messing with the hub? It is like 50 times easier to just remove the upper and lower balljoints and swing the whole axle and hub to the side.

Now that you have hacked the hub and axle you are best off to just replace the whole set as you will likely just destroy it trying to take the cluster F apart.

Same thing happened to me. I took it to a friend that works at machine shop to get it pressed out, no luck at all (this was a huge press). What he ended up doing was cutting the hub off the axle, worked like a charm. i then bought a new hub/bearing/spindle and reused the old axle. I ended up saving like $800 CDN. Hope that hepls.
