Will going no cat cause boost creep?

One of the guys at RRE told me that getting a downpipe cat free would cause boost creep, is this true, or are they just trying to get me to pay 230 for their short DP and 150 for their hi-flow cat; and meagan downpipes are like 170. i have a awd dont know if that matters.

Yeah, a lot of people says it did, but can be remedied usualy pretty easily by porting out your exhaust mani, turbo, 02 housing..

My car doesnt have a cat. Before i ported my turbo and o2 housing it creeped hardcore. All the way up to 25+psi and this was at stock boost. So its your call. You could skip the cat but be sure to port your turbo and o2 housing. It's really easy to do if you haven't done it before. There is a nice write in the tech guide that you should check out.

well i was planning on to upgrading both the o2 with maybe a ported evo or the hyrbrid conn from sbr. and the mani with the sbr unit. cand can i live in between no cat and the porting which might be as long as 2-3 months?

If you port the turbo, exhaust manifold, and 02 housing you can cure most boost creep until you get to really high boost levels. No cat will more likely give you creep but with PROPER Porting you could eliminate most creep and be all right. :thumb:

No.

1. O2 housing, I'm assumming you meant O2 dump, plays a very small role in solving boost creep.

2. A vendor port job mainly addresses improving flow and spool time, again, does very little to solve boost creep. Boost creep porting requires porting of completely different areas of the turbine housing, don't waste you money on a vendor port job. Follow this tech guide and you'll be just fine.

port the wastegate flapper opening! sorry should've said that but implied it in "turbo" 2-3 months is a long time, i'm not sure how bad creep will be, but for 10 bucks you can have all the crush washers and gaskets you'd need to take the turbo off and port it. so might as well go ahead and do it.
