I finally got the motor in but it won't start. I'm not getting spark from the spark plug wires 4 and 3 (2 furthest from timing belt) any ideas? I've changed the coil pack and it's not the wires. Thinking it might be the first plug. Thanks.

Is your CAR a 97-99...Because your wiring harness is a 95-96 style. If it was a 97 car then that pigtail not only would be a different connector but also over on the other side of your head. Now the next problem I see is you do not have a 95-96 head (atleast cam gears) the intake cam gear wouldn't look like the exhaust due to a trigger blade under it. So in order to get your car to run you would need a 1g CAS that bolts to the passenger side of the intake cam, then follow RRE directions on how to wire it up and switch your spart plug wires. It should fire right up. :thumb:

ALso with the second picture with the black pigtail...How modded was your car? I ask because that looks like a pigtail for aGM mass. Follow that pigtail's wireharness back. If it leads to a black box with 4 screws in the corners.....you got a translator. If you have the stock mass and its hooked up then just pull the translator out. maybe hold onto it or sell it.

He wrote that his car is a 95 with a 97 head. Mitsu, my advice would be to go to the dealership and just buy the part or see if someone will sell you their 95 head if you want that piece so badly. Otherwise, as CMiuc12s said, you can get a 1g CAS and put that on. It'll provide BOTH the crank angle and cam angle signals so you won't have to get the cam sensor for your head. As a bonus, it'll make it easier for you to adjust your base timing because you'll be able to rotate the CAS as needed to advance/retard timing. If you do get a 1g CAS, you'll need to switch your spark plugs around.

after talking to gary @ mitsubishi graveyard this is what i decided to do. I have the intake cam from my 95 head with the metal plate, so i think it'll be easier to install the 95 cam and the 95 sensor instead of messing around with the wiring to do a 1g sensor install. As for the second pic i think it was a silencer for the stock licp.

Personally I would think that using the 1g sensor would be easier because the cam gear was a PITA to get off. Just my opinion anyway. But good luck. Good to see that you're finally getting it together and ready to fire up. :thumb:
