My built motor/AEM EMS is going into my car this weekend and next week I will be putting in an order for a GT35R turbo (.82 A/R, TO4E housing) as well as a DNP header and Tial 40mm wastegate. Mods are:

BJ's stage 3 head
HKS 272 cams
Crower 65lb. single springs/titanium retainers
Ferrea 1mm oversized valves
Cometic HP head gasket
Wiseco 8.3:1 pistons
Eagle rods

780cc Lucas injectors
Aeromotive FPR
Walbro 255

Shep racing tranny
4-spider center diff
4-bolt rearend

secret FMIC good to 1850cfm/1.2psi max loss

AEM EMS
AEM UEGO WB O2

and lots of the little things

I am aiming for 500whp, 600 would be sweet on race gas. I want lag and lots of it...peak HP is what I'm after as I'll be doing my business on the 1320 more than anything else.

I'd like to know who else out there is running the GT35R (I only found two people on dsmregistry.com and they didn't seem to know what they were doing, e.g. they were bolting the turbo to an otherwise stock vehicle). I'd also like to know if anyone is running a GT35R with this low of compression...I am guessing with the thicker Cometic HP head gasket I may end up with even lower compression closer to 8:1. I keep thinking that this lower compression will not allow me to spool the turbo as much as I would like and my 500/600hp goals may be unattainable. It keeps me awake at night. On the other hand I can run tons of boost and not worry about detonation as much on pump gas.

So, fellow GT35R owners, thanks in advance!

It looks like you have all your ducks in row with supporting mods. The only thing I would suggest is going with the T04S compressor housing on the GT35R. We can build this for you in a T04E, but it already looks like you're going all out, so go all out with the S.

i know a few people running this turbo and they all love it. ams recommends this turbo for anyone wanting to put out some real power. ya go big with the s. i will be running the same turbo in my car but im going with a stage 3.5 head and 2.3 strocker from ffwd. ams evo put down over 600hp and the break the tires loss in 1,2, and 3 gear with hoosier tires :thumb: . they still ran a 10.3 if im not mistaking.

gt35r all the way man.

That turbo is the one one I would love to have.If you can hook me up one with in a full T4 frame let me know :D

There are a couple people in this area that have one and they say it's awesome. As far as your compression concerns go, I say it will hurt your spool up, but it will allow you to run more boost. you say you dont really want a quick spooling turbo, but you want to get into and stay into your power band as long as possible.

Thanks guys. I'm still trying to decide on a GT30R or a GT35R...I guess a faster spool up with peak loss might be worth it with the right GT30R setup, but anyone can convince me otherwise.

Ben, the TO4S sounds like a great way to go. I was looking at both the GT35R 65lb./min. and GT30R 65lb./min. and both have the same compressor maps (68mm, 56 trim, .70 A/R). Is this right? Or is the GT30R 65lb./min. just a GT35R with a .63 A/R? I am confused now, LOL. Any help would be great!

BTW, congrats to Gary Andriotis for the 9.93 run with the GT3040. Any idea what his car weighs?

Thanks!
