Is there any way to tell if a block has spun bearings? Such as scoring on the arches and such? If so, what will it look like (anyone with pictures?) What else is good to look out for when buying a used bare 6 bolt?

ahh. i can see the gouges and chunks missing. thanks for the pic and info. anything else?

Look for any blue or brown tinting. That will indicate bearing failure and overheating of the metal. Also make sure to have it crack checked. Either have it magnifluxed or something along those lines. Other than that make sure the bore's aren't so bad that they can't be redone and of course visually look for any chunks missing from being dropped or anything like that.
