What color smoke? Is the o2 sensor not in the housing all the way? Are you losing any fluids, such as oil or coolant? You've got to be more detail in your posts. Short and sweet doesn't cut it when it comes to troubleshooting. The more detail then easier it will be to figure out.

Here is what you need to do. Answer ^^^ those questions.
Then pull the LICP off and see if there is any oil in the pipe. Then, run a compression test.
 
??? If the turbo is making smoke, it's because of the seals, not the shaft play. Shaft play indicates a bad thrust bearing. That will cause a scraping/whining sound. Could you please explain oddrob? I figured pulling the LICP off to see if there was any oil in the pipe would be the correct first step to this problem..?
