Big problem occured with me today, i was driving and i realized that my car was over heating and i was in the middle of nowhere!, the closest gas station was about 2 miles away so i kept driving once the temp needle got about 3 quarters up almost the top, i pulled over and i heard a boiling noise in the engine. so its my coolant, i look under and it looks like my cars taking a piss, .. so i take it slow to the gas staion " with no choice" and then it smells like oil? so now i think my car took a sh!t, at the end of the drama my oil is leaking bad and my engine was overheated?? did i blow anything?, i let it cool down put coolant in it drove it home and it drove good, but still leaking oil pretty bad? and obviously i need a new radiator

Best way to tell is to do a compression check. How high did the needle get max? Deending on how hot your engine was and how long you drive it like that you could have possible cracked the head as well.

for the last 3 weeks the car has gotten hot about 4 times but only twice to the redzone today and the last time. See i drove it home and it was doing very good not problem at all but there is still oil in the drive way?

Likely blown head gasket. Perform compression test as suggested.

yup probally just melted away that gasket. you should have shut it down when it reached about 240... shouldnt really be driving if you dont know what overheating does...

Very wierd, today i drove around like maybe 20 miles just cruising breaking in my clutch and i parked and no oil leaked at all, and it drove like a champ, do you think maybe the car got so hot the oil thind out and strated leaking threw existing holes? but not likley but what i find woerd is no signs of oil on the driveway

or you've hit a point of having not enough oil(because you dont know how to put it in) to where your car runs but not enough and its just not leaking right now

and when there isnt enough oil, the bearings will no longer be lubricated and they'll seize up....then you have a frozen motor and big problems on your hands. i suggest you do what the others suggested and check oil levels constantly and add as needed

Dude, you shouldn't keep driving the car if its been overheating. I'd suggest a compression check as well.

i agree, check the oil (pull the little oil stick out of the tube, wipe it, put it in and pull it out and check where the oil reaches, should be near max but not over)

I beleive in your situation this is going to come out bone dry.

so if he pulls the dip stick out with oil on it does it mean that it should be ok? I was just askin due to that's what happend to me "waterpump died on way home". I started over heating with about the same miles to go as him, I got home and checked the oil after the car got done cooling down. I had a sufficient amount of oil on the stick.

Same thing with me about the waterpump, pulled into school wondering why i was smelling coolant, as soon as i parked, the car took a nice long piss...sucked really, at least i left my mark at that damn school!

just out of curiosity, what happens if the oil is over max on the dip stick?, like when the oil was changed too much was put in?

I have plenty of oil in my car, mobile 1 red top synth oil, but i think that is a little to thin. I just bought an ebay radiator for 220 shipped and it states its exaclty the same as a fluidyne was it worth it? I have a hole in my radiator. should i have gone oem or i did right by upgrading to a aluminun radiator. do they make a difference?

According to the Chilton manual, "Do not overfill the crankcase. It may result in oil-fouled spark plugs, oil leaks caused by oil seal failure, or engine damage due to oil foaming." Just take some of the oil out to be safe.

No offense to anyone but man how lazy can you be, jump back under pull the plug and take some out.

Also why are you driving a car when it has been overheating! Terrible! lots of gaskets will melt, seen it on the last tsi I picked up, the spark plug wires where metled in place and took me forever to get them out.

Ahem, that was six months ago. He's either fixed it or burned it up by now.

wow all i can say is wow, please dont drive it until you get a new radiator or thermostat, a few gallons of water, some water wetter, and a compression test, and if you need a new head gasket i have one laying around you can have just please dont drive it

my talon did that one day coming home from school, mine was just the water pump, so it wasnt to bad, you may want to check that first , then do a compression check to make sure you didnt crack the head when it over heated and you kept driving, and definatly check head gasket and radiator. like silverstrocker said please dont drive it till you get it fixed if it was a honda i would say drive it but not a dsm. :D
