Weird problem with empty gas tank light.

I just got done doing a couple of mods to my car and one of them I was going to do but decided against was some indiglo gauges. They were actually vinyls that go over the stock gauges . I removed the gauges and pretty much had the entire cluster torn apart. I put it back together and now one problem remains.

Anyways the problem is that my gas light comes on and then off whenever it feels necessary and I have over a quarter tank of gas. It's really annoying to look at so often. Anyone have some ideas as to why it would be doing this?

It's likely you bent the fuel level arm when you installed the Walbro and is either sticking or is misaligned w.r.t. fuel level.

I installed my fuel pump months ago. This almost FOR SURE is directly related to the gauge cluster. I also said the light come on but will go off at times so that would mean it's not the fuel arm.

I'm going to pull the cluster in a second and see if I notice anything strange but I doubt I will. Any other ideas?

I feel like a dumbass. When I put the gauges back together I put the needle for the fuel gauge above where it should go. So when it looked like i had about 1/8 tank it was really empty. I had thought about that but everytime I moved the needle it would go back to that spot so like a dumbass I assumed that's how much gas I had.
