Weird Hesitation

Hey guys.

I have a completely stock 1g n/a except for a k&n filter. Ever since I bought the car in June it's had this hesitation around 2k rpms. I notice it the most when I slow down and the rpm's drop to 2k and then I give it some throttle to speed up again, it stumbles before picking up. The car shakes noticeably. I can feel it in every gear except maybe 1st. It only stumbles through about 200 rpms and then it's smooth after that.

Another weird thing about it, is it seems it's just that certain rpm range that it happens. When I let the rpms go down to 1600 and then give it some gas, it's smooth until it hits 2k, then it hesitates through that 200 rpm range and picks up again.

Get new plugs, and gap them to spec. Then new wires, and I know the 1.8's have a distributer, not sure which n/a engine you have, the 2.0 might have a distributer also, reeplace that if your problems still not solved

i've changed the plugs and wires three times since I had the car. i use the bpr6es plugs but i've always used those crappy off brand wires they give me at the parts store.

i've heard some people talk about 'cleaning up' their coil pack and curing rough idles and misfires. are they just talking about the connectors the wires attach to or do they take the thing out and clean other parts?
