First of all before I hear search for it I have :).

So the DSM i just purchased (which is very very nice) has a super high frequency constant whine. I tried to record it with my phone so I could play it for you guys to diagnose but it's so high frequency it won't record. It sounds a lot like that noise that people play with on thier phones that anyone over the age of 40 can't hear. I has a walbro 255 in it.

I looked up a lot of videos on walbro fuel pump whine and none of them are so high pitched. It's not that it's whining that bothers me it's the frequency of it.

So how can i verify if this is fuel pump whine or speaker whine? You can not hear the whine at all from outside of the car, only from the inside. It does not seem to get any louder from the back seat either. I've already tried turning off the stereo and moving the balance around and the whine is still there but i've had a speaker do that once before as well.

Would it be easiest to just disconnect the fuel relay and see if it goes away?

Does it only occur when the car is on?
the easiest way to tell would be process of elimination:
Make sure theres no current going to your speakers
or pull the pump relay and see if the problem still exists

My walbro 255 does what your saying. Its most likely the pump. Also it may be how mine is wired but whenever I have my turn signal on the sound changes with it because its pulling power from the same place.

Only occurs when the car is on. I havn't looked how our fuse box is setup but i might try and pull the speaker fuse if there is one instead of the relay first.

The sound doesn't seem to change on mine really. I just wish it wasn't so high frequency. I really hate that noise :aha:.

Do you have your pump rewired?.

If you don't have it rewired, Then is more like your pump is not getting enough power.

Check your Alternator as well.
If your alternator is good after checking, then clean all the ground very good.

I used to have the same problem with my pump, (not rewired).

I never rewired it, But after swapping my engine, clean all the ground points and put a 90 amp alternator, all the noise went away.

Some other method is, to insulate underneath the back seat, so it can block the sound a little more,
But, in my case, I just upgrade my alternator and replace the (foaming thing) fuel pump cover with new seal foaming gasket.
