So here's the whole story. My clutch would spiratically stick/become loose and not engage the clutch. Well it would shift okay for a while but when I took off fast and attempted to shift into second it lost power to the wheels completey and the engine just rev'd, the shifter was VERY hard to get into gear, nearly impossible. I replaced the master cylinder and bled the system. Well the clutch pedal has pressure and moves fine and the shifter shifts freely, but it seems like the clutch is not engaging when I have it in 1st gear. I give it alot of power and the car only moves ever so slightly. Does this sound like a clutch problem (as in needing to replace the clutch) or a Transmission problem?

1. clutch plate worn
2. clutch plate is oil soaked
3. warped preasure plate or flywheel
4. week diaphragm spring.

get the package deal from extremepsi.com the flywheel and the clutch. sorry to hear that this happened but its going to eventually.

HEY WAIT A MINUTE !! before you going buying a new clutch and flywheel set up, check your clevice pin. This is the pin that pushes into your clutch master cylinder when you step on clutch. I was having similar problems that you mentioned. I had my mechanic adjust my clevice pin, because they do wear down with alot of use, and need to be replaced sometimes. He had it for a couple hours, i picked it back up from him, and the clutch felt like a brand new clutch again. Serisously check it out before you go out spending all this money. I still recommend that with the power you have you should get a new flywheel anad clutch , but it may not be your problem. clevice pin costs a couple dollars. :thumb:

Also, make sure that you have adjusted the clutch pedal play appropriately. The clutch pedal pushes on a threaded rod, and can be adjusted. If it is out of adjustment, you could have residual pressure, and that would not allow the clutch to completely engage the flywheel.

Does you clutch catch at the very top of the pedal travel, or down near the floor? If it is at the very top, adjust it so that the clutch "catches" in the middle of the range.

Hope this helps!

Just an update for anyone searching threads. I ended up getting an ACT2600 Kit, an OEM Mitsubishi Throwout Bearing, and an XACT Flywheel (7 bolt of course) and it fixed it completely. It shifts like a dream.

I would recommend getting a whole new clutch, and dont forget to buy a new throw out bearing and also to resurface the flywheel. Good Luck
