so the clip on my TPS is broken and the tps always seems to vibrate its way out under boost and send weird/weak signals which makes the car rev really weird, backfire, and sometimes nearly stall in higher RPMs. Would it hurt to run with the tps unplugged? at least temporarily until I can find a method of attaching it better?

You can change the plug or if you are careful you could put a dab of silicone on the side of the tps (do not put it on the plug or where the conectors are), let it dry over night and you should be fine but it will be hard to take it off later (if you use too much it will never come back off).

For a short term solution you can try zip tie-ing, duct taping or rubber-banding it in place.

Don't drive with it unplugged because you're car won't know how to run, and so will run like poop.

In the long term get your connector fixed.

thought i read somewhere you dont really need it? but i could be mistaken... since I thought I had heard that, I had assumed that the loose connection was causing weak/bad/strange signals and causing the ECU to do act up, and thought if it was unplugged the ecu wouldn't receive any signal and may help.

yea i ran with a 1g tps on my 2g and it didnt know when the throttle plate was closed so it would do all the usual of idle hunting/surging, almost stalling out and just randomly backfire, and when it was unplugged it was worse.

awesome.. so ill just have to find a way to keep it plugged in solid until I can replace the plug.

you definately don't want to leave it unpluged it will run horrible but a wire tie will hold it secure until you can get it replaced
