turbo smart dual port

It's not a good BOV. You'll just have a BOV that acts like it has a massive leak in the recirculating pipe, which will make the car run like it has an open blow-off valve.

You can't have it both ways.

I had bought a dual port BOV a while ago before i began searching these forums. I decided, what the hell, put it on and try it out. So i installed it today and drove around for a while and everything seems to be fine... no stumbling or stalling between shifts or when i back off the throttle. The car's basically running just as well as before, has a nice sound everytime i shift or let off the throttle, so the Dual port seems good to me. Are there any negative effects I'm NOT seeing?

Already metered air is being lost and your car WILL run rich whenever the throttle plate closes. Depending how how rich and over time, it is definitely not a good thing for the motor. The real question is: Are you willing to put up your engine's health on the line just for a "cool" sound? because that's what it all comes down to. If you want to vent to the atmosphere, I would recommend doing it the right way.

yah, there's probably negative stuff happening that i won't see until its too late.... but it sounds so damn good! i know, i know, that's a shitty excuse for risking the life of my motor. Well, the BOV came with a plug for the port that vents, so I'll just try that out tomorrow and see how it sounds fully recirculated.

Update to response /\above/\...
Everything was fine for a few days. The bov sounded great, the car was running great, and then..For some reason, my idle started to get higher and higher. Eventually it got up to about 1,500 and stayed there. I started to wonder about this, but i just kept on driving. Then, after i come home from poker this past saturday, i park the car and notice the idle SURGING between 2K and 1K.. so i'm just like..."crap". Next day of course i come and search the forums on here to see what's goin on and what to check. I go ahead and start checking what i can to see whats wrong:

-Started the car to see if the idle surge was still there. It wasn't, just the idle was high. So i turn it down with the idle screw and hope that would be the end of it. Nope. I take a drive and the surge is back.
-Checked the ISC motor ...BINGO...its BLACK as coal on the tip. So i clean that with carb cleaner as well as the throttle body and reinstall it.
So now the surge is gone, but the idle's still a little shaky. I checked and regapped the spark plugs and that helped a little. There was a little black ring around the threads. I don't know if that's cause I was running rich or if it's normal.
- Of course, I put back my stock BOV

As of now the car's running pretty stable. Idle's back to normal, but it still fluctuates @ 800rpm plus or minus 100-200rpm. After a day wasted fixing stuff i was WARNED would go wrong, my lesson has been learned:
THOU SHALL NOT VENT WITHOUT A GM OR VPC SETUP
I bow down before the DSM gods and repent for my sins.:coy:
