Ok, I know that this has been asked in other threads and I have searched everywhere on here without finding a answer to my question. I have a 90 laser n/t w/ 4g63. All the parts I have found are divided into turbo and n/t parts. Does this mean that parts that say turbo only wont fit on a n/t or just that they were meant to be installed on a turbo car. The reason I ask is because I want to add turbo in the future and dont want to rebuild the n/t engine with parts that dont work with turbo. I know that 4g63 n/t is different from 4g63t, but are the only differences compression, oil squirters, and cams, or are there structural differences as well. How about things like turbo intakes, exhaust, etc...will they not bolt on or not work without turbo. If I put a turbo intake on a n/t car without having turbo is it going to confuse the ECU? I want to know if its worth rebuilding the car to add turbo in the future or if I should find a 4g63t and go from there. Thanks and sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldnt find anything along this line except questions about cams.

as far as adding stock turbo parts to your n/t this is something that can be done as long as you have all the parts.....the only difference between the n/t and turbo motor are compression, and the intake cam, exhaust cams are the same, a lot of people on here have been putting turbo on their n/t and have been running a good amount of boost on their car, xhypno, backnblack92esi and mavinsky are good examples of this, as long as you acquire all the right parts and a few aftermarket parts such as a good fuel pump, s-afc to controll the fuel curve you can bolt the parts on and run a safe amount of boost at around 8-10 max....good luck i plan on doing this conversion soon..

what id like to kno is there any parts from a 96 Gs-t that i could use in my 97 rs?? there is one at the mitsu dealership next to my house n i left my number if he considers sellin it by parts, which he said he was.

So what could i use?

Thanks in advance!

as far as putting gst parts on your 2nd gen non turbo that cant be done because they are two completely different engines, turbo motors are 4g63t and the n/t 2nd gen is a 420a, your better off buying a turbo kit from star or hahn. good luck

So Ghost, if I was to buy, for example, 8.5 to 1 pistons that according to the vendor are for turbo cars only, they still would work in a n/t 4g63, but if I was to get a intake manifold for a turbo car only then I would have to have the entire assembly, turbo and all, because there are connections that must be attached to use it? Thats what I am deciphering anyway. Another question, are there many structural differences between turbo and n/t cars that would preclude using turbo parts? I know there are major structural differences between AWD and FWD cars, but as far as the engine bay goes? Thanks for the help BTW.

I've researched this topic fairly well as it was something I was considering. It's a lot more difficult to do then just simply bolting on a few parts. Prepare to spend the entire weekend. Putting in forged pistons at 8.5:1 is a good idea as that will let you run more boost though you should be able to go to 9:1 with no problem. As far as structural differences, there are none that would preclude you from turbocharging your NT. I think the only thing that is different are the mounting points for the air intake. Oh, and you may have to tap the block for the knock sensor which I highly recommend you install. Don't forget to upgrade your clutch too. Remember that the ACT 2100 and 2600 are for the turbo cars. ACT makes stronger clutches for the NT. I forget what they are called, but I know they make them. Just check out their website.

I hope this helps.
