ok so i was coming to a stop down shift in to 3rd and the car just came to a screaching grinding hult. in the middle of the high way at maybe 30mph. i tred to move the car and it didnt want to go. even in nutrul it would move. so i eneded up puting it in the rev and it backed up. so then i put it back in 1st and it moved for about 15ft and it cam to another grinding hult finely i got it to go and i hurd screaching coming form that back or the tranny. every one says it was coming from the back but im not shure any help. i did end up geting it home after a few trys and it drove fine no problems no grinidng nothing

also i called a tow truck and they didnt bring the flat bed so this is why i even tryed to get it home i was going to have them tow it 4 blocks to my house but he said i didnt need a flat bed with an awd and i told him hes a dumb ass and to get away from my car yeah i was kinda mad

ok just drove it down my street and back and it runs fine but to clearafiy it wasnt grinding like a bad syncro it was like the gears were grinding and the wheels locked up compleatly when this happend like something got jamed in the geas

it also felt like the back tires wanted to rip off the car and jerking realy hard

ok from reading and doing some searching could this be a bad T CASE ? ive noticed the past week or so a whining noise every time i go to a stop/slow down even in nutrual seems like anything under 25mph only when slowing down for a stop but in till i get this fixed i dont want to drive and have all 4 tires lock up on the high way agine

Actually instead of checking the level i'd just pull the drain plug and see if anything comes out.

I recently swapped out a trans for a local and his was nearly dead because of lack of gear oil.

My T-Case is leaking also :notgood:

9 to 1, my bets on the t-case. Don't ask me why but the old transfer case is problematic when it comes to the rear seal leak. I've not once heard of a rear end failure (unless its from a exteremly hard launch) and I been around dsm's for a few years now.

ok ill cheack it out and let you know tomarrow and if any one has some more info on this id be happy to here it i dont mind it being the tranny i can get a brand new upgraded shep tranny for 500 anyway and if its the t case then im hoping i can get the recal but if its the rear i dont i know what im going to do thanks for the help

my car did the samething
also when i would go to take off it wouldnt move unless i gave it a lot of gas then it popped free then drained the fluid(what fluid was in it) it was silver very bad sign
changed the tcase and it fixed my problem
if you have a 23 spline t case i have one for sale
we can meet up take urs off and put mine on and if it works you can but it if you want
im in ohio bout hour and a half from you
just thought you might be interested

pittbull419 i might go ahead and do that if i cant get the recal on the transfer case done. thats what i had to do give it alot of gas to go and then it went fine then it locked up agine it locked up 3 times all together but now its fine i drove it down the street and back and it worked great but i have a feeling its not fixed at all and is going to lock back up im draining the fluid 2marrow and ill pm you about the t-case whan i find anything out thanks

Its your transfer case, check the fluid level i bet your plum dry. Time for you to check into that t-case recall. :(
I'm thinking of trying to see if my card had this done aswell. I've heard it's a real pain in the ass though to get them to replace it?

im shure it is but it would be well worth it i think a 1600$ part for free and plus if this is why my car locked up on me on the high way after i tell them that it shouldnt be a problem and if it is ill just tell them ill take them to court. i mean if i was going 65 and this happend i would have ###### tottled the car and could have badly injerd me or others

update i went out to drain my fluid that wasnt there but on the drain plug magnet it was filled with mettel and there was black/gray gunk on my hand from taking the plug out im guesing this is what was left in there with lots of shiny silver flack so do you think its a safe bet to say that its my t-case ?

also i called about the recall they said my car dont have any recalls on the t-case or anything

also would it be ok to fill it back up and drive it ? it drives fine right now i just dont want it to lock back up on me this would only be temp till i can get a new t-case

yeah i have read the recal thread and i called they lady told me there was no recall on my car for the t-case but there might have been one on othere 91"s

Did you call a local dealership or the numbers provided? The stealership will most likley give you the obligatory run-around. Go through the proper channels to garuntee the required and desired results.

i called the mitsu then they tranfered me to chrysler who then toke all my info and ran my vin # and said nope you odnt have a recall for anything on your car

ok well i called them back and talked to mindy LOL very nice girl. i told her how my car locked up all 4 tires on the high way and gues what they found my t- case recall ROFL so i have to take it in and let the chrysler ppl take a look at it and if its the bad seel they will replace it at no coust to me but if its just the slight bit not what the recall is for i have to pay for it

should i put some new fluid in it and just drive it in or should i have it a flat bed take it in ?

If it's not that far I'd refill it and try to drive it over there. Good luck I got the runaround bigtime on mine, I'll just do itmyself and save myself the headache.

wow this is bull shit the guy said that it was done in 2002 and that they dont have to replace it agine and then i told him how it locked up and he said is it leaking i said im pretty shure theres nothing in it and he said ok bring it in july 17th at 8am and it will coust 45$ to look at it and im not garenting that its under warrenty anymore(WTF)

im so lost on what to do this is tottle shit i have to wait that long for them to look at it

should i just say forget it and find a used one and throw it in there ?

edit>> called chrysler dealer ship #2 and they said oh well you must not have changed your fluid in the past 30k so that would be matnice and that would be your fault he said and i could try to call chrysler they might helpyou but he said he doubts it loud and clear.
