yea so i finally got around to installing my thermal r&d down pipe and cat.... it was a b!tch getting off the stock exhaust because of rust on the bolts but i finally got them off with the help of my trusty saw :sneaky: ...thennn when all but the muffler was on i ran into a prob..couldn't get the muffler over the suspension like the stock exhaust ran, so i ran the muffler UNDER this...is this how all after market exhausts (or just the thermal) are supposed to fit? i fired it up and it sounds great, still some white smoke and burned smell, I'm guessing from material inside the pipes burning out??, but i just wanted to make sure that i installed it in the correct place.. thanx guys!! ill have pics and audio tomorrow or sat :thumb: :dsm:

As long as the "Thermal Research & Development" laser etching is showing upwards it's on correctly.

The Thermal runs under, it says on the instructions. Read em? :p Neither did I. My stock exhaust also came off with a saw. Nice choice, the Thermal rocks.

Under the axle is normal. I thought it was wierd too when I put mine on. It actually talks about it on one of the papers in the box. As for the white smoke, its just the oil burning off of it. Mine did the same thing. It sounds sweet tho, enjoy.

Do they make one with a smaller tip? Im sure you can cut it off and weld another one but dont know about spending 500 plus to have to modify it..I hear there bad ass but the tip is a big..

Yes it goes under the axle and the smell does go away. I too thought the tip was a little large, but after a while it grew on me.

ay thanx guys...hell no i didnt read the instructions LOL...bolt on right? i fig they would only tell you where to bolt it on :p but yea as i said ill have some pics and video or atleast audio by tomorrow :coy:

The muffler on a thermal for a 2G is SO much bigger than a 1G. What's up with that?

shoot, the tip isn't big at all (at least on my 1g) nobody thinks i even have an exhaust until I start it up and the thing roars! check my gallery to see what i mean, the tip is small on my 1g
