I'm from Florida.....(moved very young to Boston)...and my dad raised me on a nascar diet....as i got older i got more and more into it. we go to every race that is close.
we dedicate our sunday afternoons to sitting on the couch eating "cheeze itz" while watching the race. This is what got me hooked on cars...or anything with a motor.
dirt bikes, go karts, nitro R/C cars. i loved it all!..... i was obsessed with the sound of a revving engine.
so naturally by the time i was 16 i was itching for my own car. Freshman year, (high school) i got a job where i worked 40 hours a week at a car wash. so i could save up for my ride.
that summer my grandfather gave me a 98 Subaru outback!....FOR FREE!
i was pumped... it had bad acceleration but i got me where i needed to go.
for 3 years i worked at the car wash...then the summer after my Junior year. i purchased my Dsm.
the list of cars i burnt through trying to decide on what i wanted was mind boggling!
wrx, lancer, civic, integra, jetta, gti, eclipse, celica.
after time and lots of research i decided i wanted a car that came stock with a turbo. NO MATTER WHAT!...and i was on a budget of around $9,000 (saved money/money from selling the outback) i narrowed it down to a 97-99 gst, or gsx and a 2002 wrx ( loan was needed for the wrx)
after a few months of looking test driving and research i found...
- 2002 silver wrx 77,000 miles $12,500
- 97 white GSX 79,000 miles $7,000 (turbo whined like a b*tch) hence cheap price.
- 97 white GSX 90,000 miles $ 8,000 ( amazing engine condition) some rust.
i bought the GSX with 90K for $7,500.
And i couldn't be happier to be part of the DSM family. these cars are sexy!
How did all you guys get into cars/dsm's?
Who's a nascar fan?
