I have been researching and reading and I think I have decided on going with Tein S tech lowering springs and Tokico Illuminas on my 96 Eclipse GS. Anyone else running this setup? How do you like it?

Just thought I'd add something here. I'll be putting the TeinFlex setup on my wife's 98 2G AWD TSI, with the EDFC controller. A few people around here have the Tein setup, but it seems I'll be the first installing them with EDFC.

btw i just bought, 5 minutes ago,

Tein H-Tech's and Tokico Illuminas.

ill tell you how it feels when i get them in and installed.

Hey when you install the tein type flex, you should do a write up! i've had the setup sitting in my room for 2 months now waiting to be installed. but i don't want to pay anyone to do it. and my auto-friend won't get off his arse and come over to help. Take Some good pics for me! I'll instantly think your awesome! i will honestly... on another note my 05' sti buddy has the type flex w/ edfc.. and they ride like a dream, and the edfc control is so easy to use and install.. later

i just installed my H-Techs and Illuminas this weekend

amazing. since my old shocks were done for, even the newer stiffer ones are 100x better. driving around town its smoother than it used to be, with stock worn out shocks/struts it felt like a hatchback on ebay coilovers. but when you hit certain spots you can definately tell its stiffer.

cornering kicks ass now. there used to be lots of body roll and tire squeal, but now it just squats flat on the corners and no tire squeal. settings i have are 4 in the back, 3 up front(5 stiff, 1 soft). i took a corner today at 40 with no squeal or body roll, that i usually had trouble with at 25.

next are strut tower braces. then prolly paint.

Thomas thank you for posting those pics that is exactly what i was looking for. I decided to go with the h-tech springs and the illuminas after doing some research. I came here looking for a pic and you provided thanks again man.

I'd advise caution, Tein springs are colloquially known to give erratic response under heavy cornering (AX or canyon situations), and in the one car I've driven that had them equipped (though AGXes instead of Illuminas), it caused some MAJOR hop as well as plowing. Though if you're just bombing around town and wanting to have the lowered look, no worries. :)

The odds of this being due to the springs is very low, unless you mean to say the springrates were too low for the amount of drop. Much more likely is that the shocks were not right for the springs and the fact that they were AGXs fits this alternative quite well.

Just follow the GC/Koni writeup on the vfaq . The Tein Flex installation is the same except easier. You don't have to take apart any of the top of the stock stuff because you already have the upper mounts. The only thing I had a hard time with was one of the front sway bar endlinks was frozen and hard to get the bolt loose.

I see on every site they say the teins for 2wd. does this mean they will not work correctly on AWD or what? I would really like to go with the h-techs but not if they dont work with my car. any info will be helpful, thanks!

If you have stock suspension, you might as well order new endlinks from the dealership before you start. The old stock ones used a 14mm allen wrench hole which strips easily and is a serious pain in the ass to get off. Mitsubishi has since revised it and changed the hole to a bolt. MUCH easier to use. They should be about $15 a piece.
