So I was browsing the gallery and came across a good pic of a guy on here with some a/m taillights. These are the same tails that I was going to get and alter since Im in no way a fan of red taillights ^^. Here is what I came up with

This was a very quick version with photoshop but whatever, you get the idea.. Ill be painting the red circles with VHT nightshade.
Now I know Im leaning toward a ricey look and will probably get criticized for this.. but does anyone think it would look ok? I mean most new cars nowadays have taillights with black and grey housing and they look good.. shit.. if I remember correctly the 4g eclipse has tails similar to this. So post your opinions, feel free to flame as long as you have a justification. Thanks

If your not a fan of the stock red tailights on our 2g eclipse, your sitting in the bleachers cheering for the other team while you know where the majority of us are rooting for.

You asked for our opinion so here is mine, I still dont like it. It still looks--as you even said it-- ricey.

Yes new cars have them, but doesn't mean people like them. Thats one of my irks with the new cars putting these nasty euro style tails on--thank the FnF generation for that.

A lot of us here are anal about modifying the already nice look of the 2g exterior (unless it has to do with another conversion of the same oem style), the only thing I could see liking are a set of those euro tails, and redding them out, gives it an oem look, but you still see the style/shape of the circular ovals through them, but even that is pushing it for me.

But hey its your car, and if you go to a DSM meet, chances are you'll probably be one of the few--if not the only one there thats different... yay for originality right?

Here are the LED Tails I made. The outside lights are blinkers and the only reason they aren't led yet is because I can't find a small led bezel that is dual beam.... they are all single function when you go to the smaller sizes.

I did the Euro tail light harness conversion so I have seperate blinkers from my tail lights/brake lights.

I'll be making another set of LED tails similar to the Austin Martin DB9 out of OEM/Clear tails with seperate blinkers. Soon.

BTW, those tails you want, they have LED version of them... which would make it look like a new car... but still have that rice... what I would do is get a set of them, but the smoked lens ones, then take them apart and paint the chrome parts to the color of your car!

I couldnt agree with you more from a general standpoint, BUT around here.. all imports stock or riced.. are considered ricers..regardless.
You do make a good point though.. I actually didnt realize that, every single time I see a honda with euro taillights.. I just laugh.. and not just a laugh.. its more like HAH OMG WHAT A ###.. excuse my language haha. So thank you for helping me realize what I really am doing. Although I wouldnt neccessarily say euro taillights look bad, I honestly think some look ok with certain setups, but Hondas have ruined it for us all.

As the days go on I wouldn't mind having the oem taillights back, but thats not an option for me.

make yourself a few pictures of your taillights either painted all white inside or all red. Try color matching them and see if that helps any.

I'm not liking the gray on white in the photo above, the cheap plastic chrome would look better on white in my opinion.

All imports are ricers, you must be in Kansas.

I'm not a big fan. Honestly I think the stock ones look the best, Im a big fan of the "clean" look.

I think the only way I'd consider getting any sort of aftermarket tailights is if they had a nice LED setup, and then I would most likely black them out with some nightshades.

Exactly, see.. so you know what Im saying !!!! No matter if you have a completely RACE Supra or a Honda with a muffler.. we are all considered ricers.
Anyways, yea if you guys read my previous post I have decided not to do it.. I dont really want to change what already looks good as you say, Im just going to paint the center taillight piece and forget about it. Thanks though everyone

I like the clean look as well. The only "aftermarket" tails i like are the REAL EURO TAILS. I sprayed my stockers with a couple coats of VHT to get that "different" look I think your looking for.

You can check my gallery to see em'....although the lighting isn't that great. The only other pic that shows my tails from a rear 3/4 shot is the stockers before VHT.

IMO the stock taillights look best.....most but not all other aftermarket taillights look too flashy and chincy. That paintjob on eastwood95's looks nice and keep the sleeper look with some style. Your taillights look nice with the red blacked out......maybe making the lenses a shade darker would make it a little better IMO.

I like all OEM! But at the same time, if aftermarket tails are done right, I like them. I love my LED Tails... I love making my own! Ya kno... I'm the only person with my tails... Plus my eclipse has Reverse fogs, daytime running lights with a 30 second timer and Key'd window rolldown! I LOVE MAKING MY OWN STUFF!

Very nice car man. I looked through your car domain and its come a long way... nice fg work too. Ive always wondered why no one had ever tried that with the euros using the mid section as reverse lights.. anyway, nice job.

Um maybe in Topeka Kansas, But in Wichita... you can have a nice "import" and its not Ricey.... speak for yourselves up there

The whole street racing fast and the furious thing is big around here, thats why. Its probably not as big there, but here, like I said.. if you dont have a v8 muscle car, then you get no credit. We have fast imports, but if you listen to the word around town its always.. man that car is a ricer import.. #### that guy and his car. Etc. Its gotten worse over the past 3 years too, there used to be a time when we got credit here, but now its like since so many kids run around with mufflers that make there car sound like shit it doesnt help the situation. We have 2 supras in town, one of which is the fastest car in town from what I have been told, and he is even called a ricer. I also didnt say that I think all imports are ricers, I said around here all imports are considered ricers.. because the general view is from older people who think all kids under 30 dont know anything about cars. On top of that.. the majority of kids around here have imports and drive them like they are race cars.

Looksl ike theres too much talk in Kansas and not enough walking.

Get some built AWD DSMs and slowly obliterate those muscle cars from the line, and DSMs will start getting respected there.

I have big plans for the GST when the warranty is up.

you don't always have to look at them.. hell they're always behind you.

Same around my area. Car enthusiasts around here, for the most part, show respect for any type of car.

Im not into the whole body kit thing but i must say that car looks F**** Sweet..man looks like you put alot of work into you r car that has paid off...
