alrights guys, im wondering if there is any specific regulations for tails lights, sch as how much of the red brake light needs to be seen.

the reason for this question is bc im going to do some custom fab on my tail lights, im going to, if legal, black out the entire tail lights, except for a strip through the red part and a strip through the orange part, kind of how some new beamers and audis have it. i was wondering how much needs to be showing if there is any sort of regulations to the brightness or amount showing with taillights.

thanks
josh

As long as the back of your car, lights red, reflects red, and shows red its legal ( look at the new eclipses, mountaineers, etc. They have clear tailes with red relectors.). As for the distance, just use LED's they will be bright enough.

BTW - 22-219 Brought up disablilty info on your link... Maybe I did something wrong, idk.

thats all the info i needed, just had no idea if there was any certain regulations, thanks for the wisdom!

Regulations state that you aren't to modify them at all. Depends on how strict the 5-0 is in your area. Technically, even though altezza lights have red bulbs and reflect, most of them aren't 50-state legal.
