ok I will try to explain my problem let's start saying that I been putting my car together for the last year I finally got all the parts and know is working but my transmission grinds on 2nd gear so I bought another one (unknown condition) but this one has a 23 spline output shaft and I have a 22 spline Tcase so I dicided to swap the t case output shaft, everything look good on the new transmission as far as oil and parts the look clean
now the the problem/ concern, I know that the t case output shaft has some in and out play which I been reading is normal, when I took off the t case output shaft 23 splines I didn't check if it had play or not but know that I installed the 22 spline t case output shaft on and after installing the VC and the clip I have no in and out play which has me concern I also notice that at the very end of installing the VC it got really hard to get it all the way down to where the clip could sit right , C clip is on and everything moves smooth I just want to make sure if this is normal or if I should go back and double check and one more thing how do you know if your VC is in good working order (Viscous coupling) thanks for any help sorry for the long post

no one :(

i bent the splines over in my 1g because i put it back together incorrectly. make sure the clip is flush, and it has minimal play.

well my center differential is busted that's why it felt odd and had no in and out play, lucky for me I have spare parts and I am replacing the center differential and everything should go back in as normal on the side note early 90-91 center differentials are different than later models
