Ok so I've posted couple times about this problem with my transmission making a grinding noise internally it sounds like. Had couple buddies look at it at a meet, an their just as stomped one brought to my attenion that my clutch fork was able to be pushed in with no problem and I mean easily. He showed me his and it wouldnt move. The problem I've been having is either when I am at a 3k or above rpm and let go of gas while clutch is still engaged a loud grinding noise is coming from tranny. Also when I am stilling in neutral I revv car up with clutch not engaged and you can hear it grinding as well. When I start car and just leave it sitting their you can hear it but its very low. I push clutch in and noise is gone, I can revv car up with clutch in and no noise. It sounds almost like a rod knock but its not. It sounds as if my flywheel or some is just rocking in my housing. Would my clutch fork being that easy to push in cause this kind of problem. The guy when he put my transmission is adjusted my clutch when I went to pick it up I am not sure if this could of lead to problem or not. Also it goes into gears just fine no problems at all with that. I am thinking of taking it to guy to look at it but going to cost 400 just to go through it and only reason I am going to him is cause he builds these transmission's, if anyone else is having this problem or has had it and fixed it could give me some insight before I go off spending 400 bucks if its a fix I can get done with out going that route. Thanks

have you tried to put your hand different places on the transmission while its making the noise to see if you can feel where exactly the noise is coming from. would also try touching the end of fork while it's making the noise. if they clutch fork is easy to press down like that i would think the issue would not be in the trans but in the clutch system.

Sounds like noise is coming from the housing area, when I had my buddies looking at it they thought it was rod knock because where they were hearing it but I pushed clutch and gone. So somewhere by clutch/flywheel. I pushed the fork in while running and you can still hear noise and it goes in super easy I mean I could use a toddler's finger to push it in.

sounds like you probably need to pull the trans and inspect the clutch, throwout bearing, flywheel, as well as the shaft the clutch disc rides on. thats where it sounds like the problem is to me. you could also get a stethescope possibly from a parts store or tool store like sears or harbor freight and try listening to the bell housing and the motor.

Yea I was thinking about doing that. i am ###### going to take it to a guy thats works on eclipse's up road from me to have him listen to it and see what he says. I am pretty sures its coming from housing I hope its not shaft that would suck. I am thinking something is loose though.

sounds like a good plan. hopefully you'll just need a clutch kit. im thinking the throwout bearing is whats causing most of your problem but you'll most likely need to get the trans out to properly find and fix the problem. Best of luck and post the problem/solution when you get it. :thumb:

if you say the noise goes away with the clutch pedal down then you might have a bad input shaft bearing .having the pedal down disengages the clutch and stops the trans from spinning while all the load is on the throw out bearing .either way trans will have to come out to inspect the clutch and pressure plate.

its a lot of work you have to take the trans apart you will need gear pullers maybe a press to .

The clutch slave is supposed to push back in easily. It's your buddy that has a problem with the clutch hydraulics. As stated above in neutral the input shaft is still spinning. Clutch in and that stops so nothing is moving. In reality is probably still moves a little until you try to put it in a gear. Replacing any bearing on a shaft requires full transmission tear down.

Yep get it done right first time i should have about 800 for parts after labor so hopefully not to much is bad. supposebly it has quife lsd in it so will see if its true
