Spare tire

When I bought my 95 Eclipse GS-T the hatch was gutted and had no spare tire. I've been told that the 2g's have a full size spare, but I don't know the size of the rim and the size of the tire. Also, what is the maximum size(rim and/or tire wise) that I can fit into the hatch and have it bolt down properly? Reason I ask about max size is that my ride is dropped 2 inches and I have a low kit with 18" rims and 225/40/18's.

As far as I know, they all came with space saver spares.

my 98 GSX has a space saver.

No full size spare for 2G DSM's.

My 95 GSX had a space saver spare also.

my 2nd gen has a space saver and the stock size for the GSX is 215/55/16 i think FWD is 205/50/16 i belive i'm not positive on that

Ok, so is a space saver tire proprietary to the manufacturer or can I find one of these at a local tire store?

You were told wrong. Keep in mind that a good 90% of what you'll be told about DSMs is wrong.

Check your local junkers for a space saver, or try a classifieds ad on here.

Well I found a guy local who gutted out his 99 GSX and I picked up his spare. He told me that the GSX spare is slightly larger, anyone know if the area where it sits is the same size in all 95-99's?

The 95's must have a smaller storage area than the 97-99's because I can't get it to sit flush nor mount down, can anyone confirm?

I'll buy the fact that the GSX spare is bigger. Since the diameter must be close to the normal wheel. I don't know why they wouldn't just do that across the board though.

Can you tell me the tire size? I'll check it against mine.

Yep, and tried to adjust it in every way I could and it wouldnt drop in Maybe I'm missing a part in there? In Layers it would be:

Carpet
Board
Wingnut clamp holder
Spare Tire
Metal bracket
Windshield Washer Tank
Frame
