well i'm pretty sure my car has a boost leak. few things make me think this.
1. the car is running rich
2. i hear a hissing sound when ever i'm driving and revving up to like 3k
3. and the car just feels slower then wat it should be

but my question is..could the hissing sound i hear be the leak? is it really loud enough to where i can hear it inside the car while driving? also, when making a boost leak test, it's not necessary to use a pvc end cap as it says in the vfaq rite? i can just using anything else that's solid rite? and one more question thats kinda off topic (don't wanna open a seperate thread). could anybody show me a pic of a "T" fitting they used for they're boost gauge? i just wanna make sure i get the rite kind. thanks for the help!

Yes you could have a boost leak.
The only way to make sure is to build the leak tester.
Yes you could probably get away with something else but the PVC end cap, but why?
Just go to any hardware store. They'll have them.
And I'm sure you know this but don't just listen for the leak. Spray everything(Turbo compressor housing, IC pipes, BOV, injector seals, TB, etc) with soapy water so you'll see the bubbles from the leak.

As far as the T-fitting, go to any auto parts place to get one. It's not a matter of what it looks like. I've seen brass T's, black plastic T's, white plastic T's, etc. Any of the above will work. Just find one that is the right size for your vacuum hose. You want it to fit quite snuggly inside the vacuum hose.
Here you go:

I had a similar problem, whenever I boosted it sounded like a jet was taking off, I then realized I only had one bolt holding the J pipe on-to the turbo, before I could fix it my car umm.... well.... died.

Your systems diagnose a boost leak

thanks for the help, gonna try to get this resolved this weekend

Do you have a boost gauge and have you noticed any changes in your vaccumm reading at idle?

no that's the thing, i'm not POSITIVE that i have a boost leak simply cause i don't have a boost gauge installed yet. mostly because i have an autometer gauge and everyone's telling me to throw away the thin nylon hose it came with and buy a rubber hose but i don't see how a thicker rubber hose would fit to end of the gauge.

Go to Home Depot / AutoParts store and pickup a brass barb fitting with a threaded female end which will screw onto the back of the AutoMeter gauge boost/vac fitting :thumb:

The less restrictive/shorter the line to the gauge, the quicker it will react to changes in boost.
