Ok i bought a HKS air intake the one with the green honeycomb style filter and the first day i used it my car was running like crap so i put the old intake box on still ran like ass then i took it in to mitsu when i ran out of things that could be causing it the mech said my upper intercooling pipe blew loose ok makes sense he said you could go ahead and try to put the air intake back on so i did and the car ran fine even better than before it was broke
so it's been about two days with the intake on and now the car is sort of given this weird blow off preasure unless the boost is high so i think the pipeing has come loose again or something does anyone know some body who has used the HKS intake and has had these problems or any other tips (yes i know the stock upper intercooler pipe is a smashed down peice of junk) but i don't want to spend 150-200 buck on some better after market ones when my FMI is gonna cost like 800 $ but i just can't have everything at once my budget is expandable with time.
-thanks-

When you upgrade either the intercooler piping or air filter/intake (which you have done)The noise from the turbo is increased. From the factory the stock parts help subdue those noises out of the cabin and give you that nice quiet ride. Sometimes I find myself cruising around without the radio on just because I miss hearing the engine rev and the noise it makes, but that's just meWTF .

If you're not having driveability issues like stumbling or stuttering and your question is only related to the noise, then Jerry's post above is right on. The BOV will be louder with an aftermarket intake tube on the car. Keep in mind, however, that the stock 2G BOV will not hold more than 12-13psi before it leaks so you may want to back the boost down accordingly or consider a 1G BOV upgrade when you replace the intercooler piping.

If you are having driveability issues, then it would be prudent to perform a boost leak test. Information can be found at http://www.vfaq.com under the Intake section.

In the future, please be more clear when phrasing your questions so we can have a better understanding of what you're really asking.

if 1 of your intercooler pipes came off that would do it, but when my car popped 1 off it was like driving the car without the turbo, so id just check all your piping and may convert it to hard piping while your there

What he said. If your piping has actually blown off you will have noticeable driveability issues. You probably won't be able to rev very high (when I left mine loose at the throttle body I couldn't go past 3K) or it will rev, but stumble quite a bit.
