Shaved/Molded Stock 2g Front Bumper

Any decent body shop could do this for you pretty easily. Bring your car to a few shops, explain what you want done, and get some quotes. Or if you want to try it yourself, you could use fiberglass, but I wouldn't suggest it if you have no experience with body work.

Playing around with photoshop this is a before and after of what I want. I also shaved the marker light in the pic. It looks like the bumper is molded to the fender but that is not what I want.

Body shops can do polyureathane as well as fiberglass. Like I said though, I wouldn't try it without and experience.

 Wouldn't fiberglass crack and break off polyureathane?

Fiberglass sticks to metal, you think it would stick to plastic  Not 100% sure.

wow that actually looks really clean...

no fiberglass will NOT stick to plastic/urethane.

i really wish someone made a fiberglass 2gB front end. id like to take a 2gB fiberglass bumper and mate a Black Widow2 kit from a stang(closest fitting) to it, so i wouldnt have to modify the bw stang kit for the headlights, just kinda cut and paste kinda deal.

I would think that will cut a lot of the airflow to your front brakes. If the car's a garage/show queen, a good body shop could probably pull it off.

You might want to try screwing some brackets into the openings and then put a material in there that the fiberglass will bond to. then use some sandable/paintable adhesive to close any gaps. Then sand it all to the right shape and get it painted.

If you drive that car hard you are going to need some ducting to get air to your front brakes.

If it's just a show car, it would be fine. I think it looks clean, I just have to worry about performance aspects. I'm sure you understand ;)

I just finished shaving my foglight areas on the front bumper, im not sure im mine is polyurethane because its aftermarket.. its a plastic of some sort, anyways it sticks fine but you need to rough it up alot with at least 60 grit. looks good though, i'll see if i can bet some pics up.

:thumb: Thanks for the help so far! Do the air ducts really provide that much air to the brakes? Wouldn't a SMIC block a lot of air itself? I have a FMIC now :D incase anybody was worried about that. This car is a daily driver so I want it to hold up. If there is a diffrent aftermarket front bumper that is made out of a better material to get something to stick to let me know. Has anyone used some stuff called Plastex? http://www.plastex.ca/default.asp I have a motorcycle and I was talking to a guy in California that I bought some stuff from on ebay and he ownes a motorcycle repair shop that he's run since mid 70's and he claimed to have used everything to mend fairings together and this stuff was the best. Any thoughts on any of this?

I got to thinking about the whole air duct thing. What about the stock setup? The ducts are blocked with plastic on a n/t and there is a intercooler on turbo. Not much air getting to the brakes there. Is there nobody on here that has an idea on a adhesive/filler to bond the bumper to take the abuse of a daily driver?

They are being cooled by air coming under the front bumper cover. I was under the assumption that you were covering up that route.

there was someone here who did a really nice job on filling the foglight holes.. what he did was get the bezel for the foglights.. and bondo it or wahtever he did where it was covered and flushed.. color match with the paint and you could easily screw them on.. ud see the outlining but it was covered.. the thread is somewhere..

Search for posts from greyforest-gst ... or a screen name to something of that effect. I'm sure someone here can clarify on his exact screen name. He's done quite a few mods to his car that were low budget and high style. Currently modding the appearance of my '95 GS and it will have the fogs eliminated.
