Guys, Chad Barber has done a good job with keeping the import racing alive at Sac raceway. We all need to voice our opinion as far as class rules go. I know alot of you guys are building some nice cars, and some will participate at Sacramento Raceway. Here is your chance to speak up and be heard. I hit 90% of the CMI events last year, and would like to see some sort of AWD specific class. I know its a bit out there, but the main thread is located on honda-tech.com 80% of the cars that participate at CMI events are honda's so you can see the relation. But us AWD folk are being called upon to voice our status. Please post up if you will be participating at Sac raceway events.

Thank you for your time,

Ted Marquez

MODS/Admins I apologize if this violates any rules as far as linking to other sites, but this is a crucial subject up here in norcal. It seems as if the import racing sport/hobby/what have you is dying down slowly. We need all the participation we can get.

Thank you for understanding.

Whats the goal for next year Wern? 10s????

i wish.. goal is to run a 11.99 or better on the walking 7bolt motor that is pushing coolant ROFL.. should we be expecting to see 9's from you at cmi on jan. 11 ted??

Hopefully I make it out there and run a decent 10 second pass. I need to go smaller on the 40R turbine housing.

After that event I will be tearing down the motor and inspecting it thoroughly. Im hoping those aluminum rods can be reused for next season :shhh:

That 7 bolt sounds like its on its last legs man!

I'm the one who started that whole debate on H-T. They told me to get a group of guys together and they'll make a class for us.

I'm requesting the name of the class be GRIP just to give it a little back bone into the cars in the class.

I'll be pushing that they incorporate the BOTI Street tuner class rule set so that we can all build our cars uniformly to meet the standards/requirements of both events.

So what I need from everyone is their name, car type, how soon they'd be available to race.

They need at least 8 of us committed for a full bracket.

PM me for all interested, and please post this info on any an dALL AWD platformed cars message boards.

Thanks.

I'm always ready for CMI events. Heck, we went up to BOTI and changed my transmission at the track!

I think everyone should just post up on the Honda tech forum and let Chad know what class they are planning. We will be discussing this at the next event. I raced in Chads class all last year, and he is a stand up guy. Down to earth, and no bullshit. Its always great to meet real racers like that.

Where can I find more info on CMI's class breakdown? All I found was the results page on Sac Raceway's website. I'd like to know which class allows AWD cars.

I think Quick 8 is about it.. Bracket I believe.

This new "Grip" class would be heads up..

Quick8/Fast8, and T4 are heads up classes. AWD cars (11.50-13.XX) are allowed in outlaw but that is a bracket racing class.

The AWD class would indeed be heads up. Chad wants all the AWD guys to post their interest in that thread so he can get an idea of who is in. So far we have 3 entries for next year. I know I'll be there on the 11th. Dave up and running? The name GRIP is a bit out there. Whats it mean when we are spinning all 4 anyways?

Where are you geting this info?
I'm scheduled to work the 11th, so I won't be racing. I'll come out to a few events this summer.

Its just the way its always been Dave. When you participate at 90% of CMI events, and come out 3rd in the points race...you get to know alot about how the classes are ran :) This is in regards to the pro classes (T4, Q8/F8).

As far as the AWD class that Chad is trying to help us establish...I'm in contact with him. Shooting for BOTI street tuner rules.

I would love for the AWD class to draw in ALL the AWD cars. I have a feeling some of the AWD cars will have the option to run in the outlaw class.

The "grip" name just constitutes that its an AWD class, we may spin all 4 but in general when you think of "grip" and cars, you think AWD. Its not like its a finalized name or class, I just asked around and a lot of people liked the name.

At the end of the day they can call it "The class for all the AWD guys.." if they want to. I'll be on the back burner for a while since I am over building the sh*t out of this car. Being able to run the S400 changed my entire build plan. I plan on racing a few times this season, but I'd take the back seat to who ever will be there regularly. Its only fair.

I haven't met anyone who doesn't LOL.

I could only imagine what other panzy ass name someone else would conjure up. AWD = Grip.. =P

On a side note, Dave Wanna help us tune this sleeper 18g.. We can't figure out whats wrong with it.. We'll feed ya if we come down there or we'll pay ya to come back to sac, how bout it?

We need 8 AWD cars to form the class on the 11th!!!

I'm interested but i am having to many problems with the car. I was out there at CMI today and there were more than 8 AWD's out there. There were 2 GVR4's, ~6 Evo's, ~4 STI's and ~8 DSM's. All in all it was a great day out there. Wish Ted could have run a 10 but he did good anyway. Can't wait to see what your car will do next event. Maybe I'll get the car running good enough to run next time.

Oh... and the Cobra eating the wall on the last run was priceless:tease:

Ya it was definately a great event. I met a couple of the DSMrs out there and had some chats with you guys. Its funny as soon as the car starts running right, I am ready to do another mod to it and try something new. Guy with the white 1G hit 11s, congrats! He's from the San Jose area.

I will be going to a dual fuel rail setup and getting the most out of E85. 8x1600s, and well...its complicated.

Lets just say, there will be a better feature coming soon to Link V3 :)

Tony said that the AWD class looks like its a go. Well over 1000 spectators and a little over 200 entries. Looks like this side of racing is coming back!

white 1g, the asian guy that is always with the other black 1gb? I could of sworn he told me he hit 11s a while ago

Just to give you guys an update. The AWD class IS going to be run. BUT!!! it will be combined with import RWD cars.

Keys here is FULL glass, dash and so far that seems to be it. Chad and tony are going to play this by ear so the more interest and participation in this class, the better we will be catered to.

Ah yes, the class is heads up. So run whatcha brung!

Ted

Hey wassup man long time no see/talk.

Hope the 1G is doing ok.

I was speaking with Mike "audi2ptzero" about the class and was planning on running in it last Sun but didn't make it out since i'm still w/o a cgae of some sort

This is a great idea if it is handled correctly as i heard they DID NOT run the class due to low attendance of AWD cars. :(

With that if we can all go out and show how serious we really are about the drag scene then i think it has the possibilty to become very competitive and fun!

Also if you could throw in a word to see if they could straighten out the qualification process to gaurantee at least 3 runs and somehow find a way to let the racers know when to come to the staging lanes instead of hurrying them up to sit and wait around for sometimes hours please.

Thanks and hope to see you out there soon!

Pat
