:talon:i have a 95 talon esi with a 5 spd transmission. i need to change the tranny fliud in the car and i have looked thru the forums several times for hours and everyone says i need the fluid from the dealership for this transmission. well, i went there today and they get me Mopar ATF+4, i was confused. i looked online a bit and what they gave me matches no part numbers of fluids i found that work for my car. she told me i had a DD4 transmission and the little chart she had said i used ATF+4, even tho its a manual. i saw the chart and she was right according to the chart, but i dont know if i have a DD4 transmission or not. there were other fluids listed for the other manual transmissions, the DD4 was the only one that used ATF+4.

she seemed to have trouble finding information on my car, so i was just going to make sure before i put this in my car.

i need to know if i have the right tranny fliud, and if not, what transmission do i have?

sorry i dont have time to look this all up now, and god knows we need another tranny fluid thread... LOL

but i g2g,.

thanks to you all

i was only concerned cause they lady was having trouble looking up the correct fluid and i didnt want to destroy my tranny with the incorrect fluid. i guess i will just go back to the dealership and talk to someone else.

i would assume the original fluid has been replaced, but i wasnt expecting ATF to be the replacement.

thanks

Yea, I do not think you should be using ATF in a 5 spd. I have Pennzoil syncromesh in my beater 95 ESi 5 spd. Works good.

BTW, just thinking back, my 1982 supra had light weight motor oil in it from the factory, I guess for fuel mileage.

ok, thanks everyone. i will be going back to the dealership. i found another chart on the internet that says (from what i believe) i should have 75w-90 from teh dealership, not the ATF+4.
