Ok guys how many times have you seen a 1G with rust right in front of the rear wheels? Probably alot because i've seen quite a few.... Anyways for now im doing bondo work just to get through the winter but this spring i plan on taking off the skirts and cutting and replacing the right way. SO what i was wondering is, since so many 1Gs seem to get this rust due to the little "salt catcher" right there, is there a kit of some sort out there that makes a patch you can just cut and fit? probably not i suppose but if there is it would save me alot of metal bending and trimming.... Or if anyone knows the best way to take care of this easily i would appreciate it!

If you plan on fixing it in the near future than i would just leave it alone until then. The problem is water getting in behind the metal, so throwing some bondo on the outside isnt' going to to do anything but help hold the moisture in there.
 
ya your probably right but i already cut the rust out before the car went in for a new motor. Then it took till now to get it out and i don't want holes just sitting there in the winter in iowa with salt on the roads that would just be worse right? i already have the bondo on it, but what i did was only like an inch wide and three or four inches tall so im not too worried about cutting out the bondo later. so should i just like take some rubber or something and cover that gap that catches all the road crap? I'm no body man so ill probably just have my GFs dad do the body work the right way it once it warms up again.
 
you can also use spray on rubber underbody coating on the inner fender.
