Rear differential busted

Does anyone know of a good website or shop (in the washington area) that has a good reputation with rear diffs? I broke the ring and pinion gears in mine.

On a side note, its a BFH viscous LSD....is that a good rear diff? im new to AWD so i have no idea.

Just buy a used 4 bolt lsd rear end off an auto 1g or some manual 1g car.

hmm, I'm no expert but I believe there is a difference between auto and manual rears, transfer cases and trannys.

There is no (4-bolt) upgrade for the 2g cars. The rear end is strong enough as is something bad must have happened.

I thought the carriers could be swapped over but I must be wrong. As far as auto/manual differences I know most (or all) auto cars had 4 bolts as well as some 5 speeds for the 1gs.

There is no "4 bolt upgrade" for 2g dsms. The 4 bolt rear end was 92.5-99.

And as far as I know, the rear has to match the tranny. I am sure a wise man could explain exactly what is going on in there that has to match but it has something to do with differentials. If they aren't the same drive ratio it will just end up breaking.

You might want to post up in your local forums down towards the bottom when looking for a shop in your area.

I think the 1g four bolt lsd has the same gear ratios as the 2g lsd but the axles won't match.

Also in richard case, he had a lsd rear end but his car was not equipped with lsd from the factory, do you need the right transmission to go with the lsd rear diff?

I got a new rear end put in but its the same one as what i had in previously. My car did not come with an LSD from the factory, like kenny stated, so is my rear end just going to break again because of that?

Only difference in rear diffs is auto or manual. Lsd and non lsd have the same ratios

This is a little bit off topic but the same concept my rear dif is sitting At shep trans now and I need to supply him with a manual trans ring an pinion for the rear dif where can I find a set I found a set but the place wants 700$ with 100$ shipping I need to find it without buying a new rear dif and pulling them out of there on a budget so please help

You can get a manual ring and pinion out of anything. All the manual transmission ring and pinions are the same. I have one out of a 2g in my ggsx 3 bolt rear even! There should be tons of broken 3 bolt shit around that you could get one for cheap.
