So, I need to rewire the turning signals in my 2g's headlights in a way so that they are not always on, but only when the turning signal is activated. I haven't looked at it yet, are there 2 lines that feed power to the signals or is there just one ?

Anyone got any idea how to do it ? No matter what it involves, I'll have to open them up anyway, got moisture in them...

3 lines - p/n 1157 bulb - duel filament type.
1= blinker
2 = parking lamp
3 = ground.

You can just cut the parking lamp wire and it should do what you want.
(all tho i got no clue as to why you would want this,and yes its technically illegal. )

First off, why? I am pretty sure that by law they have to be on when the headlights are on.

I am not sure you can do it. But if the bulb is a dual filament then just snip the wire to the parking light filament.

As to why and the illegality of it, over here in Germany, it's illegal to have parking lights in the turning signals. :D There have to be seperate bulbs with a white color. I'll still have to figure something out for that, I thought about drilling a new hole somewhere near the turning signal and installing an small bulb there.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Damn server! It took 20 min to send my reply.

Ah, you know, I didn't even look at your location. :coy:

BMW have the clear bulb in the lowbeam housing... now I know why. Just do something like that.

ROFL yeah, that's why they have that. The EDM Eclipse also have a small white bulb in the low beam housing for the same reason. But I don't want to drill into the reflector there, too afraid of messing it up or cracking it.

You know hell would freeze over before the US joined in with the Euro safety stuff. Having red turn indicators is just plain friggin' dumb.

The reflector material is plastic... i think. Just drill a small hole first and work your way up... but NOT with one of those shitty multi bit things. Use light pressure and you will be fine.

Dis assemble the headlights and remove the amber lens. drill a small hole in front of one of the reflectors (the piece comes out) and insert a small socket and white bulb. (or led) run the lines out the back ofthe headlight through a small hole and reassemble
use an amber bulb for the turn signal... snip the wire for the park indicator + and connect to the new bulb/led.

you could also insert the white bulb or LED behind the same amber lens...

follow basic directions here but reduce the temps to 225-250.

oh and multi bits work fine if you are careful.
