I'm getting a new motor in my car and was looking to put in Prothane's. But i havn't read (or found) anything about their use in auto's.

Is it all the same MM kit? Or is there a specific MM kit for auto dsm's?

Also, I imagine it would be safer and better for the whole drivetrain to use the prothanes but is there a downside to using them on a auto?

They fit the years there made for, auto or manual, doesnt make a difference. And yes there good for your parts, expecially your auto, alot of stuff can malfunction when there boungin around on the stock mounts. Downside? Vibration, but thats all.

Yeah, vibration isn't an issue at all. I have 3" exhaust with no cat or resonator. And the motor is comming with no balance shafts, so yeah, vibes aren't a big deal.

Thank you for the answer to that also, i kinda figured it'd be alright but i just wanted to make sure.

I will order those now then.

I have the prothane kit in my auto and vibration is only bad at idle. It makes the steering column shake pretty bad, I mean bounce actually, I have to hold it steady at a red light or it shakes the whole gauge cluster. But thats ok I don't care. The kit that i got was a 5sp kit was the same except for the rear mount, the rear mount is bigger than the insert.

Do you really wanna know? I took a piece of leftover 3 in. stainless cut it to the same size as the old sleeve then wrapped around the outside of that with duct tape, it didn't take much, then folded the edge of the tape inside the ring and slid the inserts in. Just another use for good ol duct tape. I stuck my friends manual mount in and it looked like you could just space the mount up off the frame like a 1/4 in. and it would line up.

haha that made me laugh. nice work. i plan on picking up some prothane MMs also for the 2g. is there a big difference between the prothanes and energy suspension MMs?

Anyone else have anything on this? I can't seem to find much of anything.

I'm trying to do it right now, and it looks to me like the rear press in will work for the front mount. And the front inserts will fit in the rear. I don't want to rip anything apart yet until i can find out what works for sure.

Or what other people have done. I need to get this knocked out by monday, so any help would rock.

Thanks guys and gals.

Just put someting in there in between the gaps your getting and bolt it up.
